Amazon, Toys’R’Us Discounts The LEGO Movie Sets

In anticipation of the impending release of the The LEGO Movie, both Amazon and Toys’R’Us are discounting LEGO Movie set by at least 20%. Amazon seems to be out on some sets, like 70801 Melting Room, but you can pick up it up and others at Toys’R’Us. On Toys’R’Us’ site, they seem to be out on some sets as well, but they do offer online purchase for in-store pickup. AND they have Movie sets marked at MSRP. One set in particular worth mentioning is the TRU exclusive 70813 Rescue Reinforcements. It’s normally $69.99, but 20% off brings the price down to $55.99.

Toys’R’Us Hosts The LEGO Movie Building Event

Looking for something to do after the movie? On Saturday, February 8 from 12noon to 2pm, Toys’R’Us stores will be hosting a building event. From the poster, it looks like you’ll be able to build a small car for Emmet that can double as a plane. The poster also says that there will be raffles for toys and prizes which, I’m pretty sure, is a first. All the other events I’ve been to never had anything more than a couple of promotional items.

The LEGO Movie Videogame is nearly upon us and GameStop is offering a pre-order bonus. Bonus is valid for all systems (3DS/2DS, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, PS Vita, Wii U, XBox 360, Xbox One). Sorry, PC owners, you can get the game but no minifigure. Hit up Gamestop to choose your system’s game. The game will be released this Friday February 7.

Behind the Bricks… the best video you’ll watch all week

Just in case you weren’t already stoked to see The Lego Movie (and if you aren’t… what’s wrong with you?), Lego went and released a trailer that should just make your Friday. My personal highlight was “Ha! First Try” after a batarang throw… what was yours?

Amazon Discounts 70809 Lord Business’ Evil Lair

I didn’t think it would happen this soon, but a Movie set has already been struck by the discount hammer. Amazon is offering 70809 Lord Business’ Evil Lair at a 21% discount down to $54.99 from $69.99 MSRP. No other Movie sets are discounted as far as I can tell. If you’re undecided about picking this up, Nick had the honors of reviewing this set.

Thanks to lithicbee for the tip.

    Review: 70813 Rescue Reinforcements

OK, so maybe the Flying Flusher didn’t blow my mind, but how about a set that has not only the largest “Micro Manager”, but a helicopter cobbled together from a windmill and a giant fire mech? This is more like it.

    Review: 70811 The Flying Flusher

I’m late to the party with my reviews for sets from The LEGO Movie and Nick already picked up the Glider and Cloud Palace sets, so I’m going to dig right into the two I have left. Starting with the Flying Flusher. This set seemed more interesting for the tongue in cheek aspect then the Ice Cream Machine or Trash Chomper which to me looked like more fun, but the Flusher did have those plungers… is it worth picking up for those parts alone though?

    Review: 70804 Ice Cream Machine

As far ice cream trucks go, I can say without a doubt 70804 Ice Cream Machine is the BEST ice cream truck set that LEGO has ever released. Of course it’s probably the ONLY ice cream truck set they’ve ever made so the bar is set really low but don’t let that color your judgment.

    70810 MetalBeard’s Sea Cow Revealed

This is a bit spoilerish so I’ll hide the non-blacked out image until past the jump, but thanks to this post on Eurobricks, we now have a clear image of 70810 MetalBeard’s Sea Cow. The current speculation is that it is a LEGO D2C (Direct to Consumer) set, possibly pitting the set in the $200 dollar range give or take a few bucks. More news to come as we get it:

The LEGO Movie Wave 2 Sets Spoiled From Book

Now that I’ve somewhat recovered from our review blitz with one more still on my docket, a few more images have surfaced from a book already revealing some future LEGO Movie sets. The images popped up on imgur and are sourced from The LEGO Movie: The Essential Guide (Dk Essential Guides) which you can buy right now from Amazon and probably from your local bookstore assuming there are any of those left standing. We have four images to share with you but be forewarned: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!
