I’ve always loved where Ant-Man fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was a mixture of a heist movie and some comedy that served as the tone-shift the MCU so desperately needed in their prime universe. Guardians of the Galaxy proved that comedy could work, but it had the safety of being apart. Ant-Man had to deal with the Avengers and Earth, and made it harder.

There’s plenty to love in what we’re seeing here, especially the return of Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp. I love her new look and the way it works in such an important character. Curiously missing from the trailer is any Michael Peña, who was another character highlight in the first film. We’re also seeing a shift from heist movie to fugitive movie, which I like… I just want to know why a Warlock from Destiny has shown up in the MCU…

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the first post-Infinity War movie, and the last Marvel movie we’ll get in 2018 when it releases in July.
