  • New Star Wars Instant Pot Pressure Cookers From Williams Sonoma

New Star Wars Instant Pot Pressure Cookers From Williams Sonoma

I thought I was done buying expensive Williams Sonoma stuff but I guess I was wrong. Williams Sonoma is now offering a series of special edition Star Wars Instant Pot Pressure Cookers. And just like that, my wallet is a little lighter.

The smallest capacity one is the BB-8 Mini Instant Pot. Weighing in at just 3 quarts, it’s appropriately sized for the character and perfect for the single man, woman, or hobbit-sized family.

The R2-D2 Instant Pot Pressure Cooker comes in at 6 quarts, double the size of BB-8, and is honestly the best one out of the bunch because of its cylindrical shape. This is the one I got because it’s the most awesomest.

Chewie here is a hefty 8-quart capacity Instant Pot. It’s the worst one though despite it’s larger size. I mean, When I think of Chewie and cooking all I can think of is hair in my food.

Bringing balance to force we have a pair of Dark Side Instant Pots: Darth Vader and Stormtrooper. They are both 6 quarts in capacity and feature profiles printed on the sides. I kinda wish they colored the control panal on the Vader pot to match those buttons on his chest. But that’s a moot point because that’s not the one I got.

You may be asking yourself, “What can I use an Instant Pot Pressure Cooker for anyways?” ‘Cause I had the exact same question. Here’s exactly what you can use it for, taken from the product description:

    • Streamline meal prep with this special edition Instant Pot, starring the beloved Star Wars droid: R2-D2.
    • 7 functions in a single pot: pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, sauté pan, yogurt maker and warmer.
    • 13 smart built-in programs: Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Poultry, Slow Cook, Sauté, Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, Yogurt, Keep Warm, and Pressure Cook.
    • Large LED display is easy to read, so you can quickly check on cooking progress.
    • Delay start up to 24 hours ahead of time.
    • Pressure-cooker setting allows for up to 4 hours of cooking time.
    • Slow-cooker setting has 3 temperature levels and can be programmed to cook between 30 minutes and 20 hours at each level.
    • Sauté and browning settings have 3 temperature levels for simmering, browning and stir-frying.
    • Yogurt-making function heats milk for pasteurization and fermentation.
    • Keep Warm setting keeps food warm up to 10 hours – and can be manually adjusted to stay warm for almost 100 hours.

There you go. You’d either be a fool not to own of these or a normal person who has no need for an Instant Pot and doesn’t succumb to marketing, merchandise, and FOMO.

The First LEGO SDCC Exclusive Set Is Star Wars

The LEGO Group pulled the wraps off the first of three retail exclusives made for this year’s San Diego Comic Con: Han and Chewie in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. If history is any examples, 75512 Millennium Falcon Cockpit will cost $40 and will require a winning ticket to purchase at the LEGO booth.

LEGO SDCC Exclusive 75512 Millennium Falcon Cockpit boxGetting the LEGO SDCC exclusive sets and minifigs has been a tradition for as long as they’ve been doing them. And given the state of my collection, I’m sitting here asking myself, “Am I really going to go through that again and accumulate more stuff?” I don’t want to do it but at the same time, old habits are hard to break.

  • These Microbuild Figures Though

    These Microbuild Figures Though

These were free for every $25 dollars in LEGO Star Wars purchases at the Big Shop at LEGOLAND California this weekend during Star Wars Days. So, say you buy a UCS Y-Wing, you can get the whole gang for free. The printed pamphlet said one free for $50 and one per transaction but they the price point was lower and were pretty generous at the register.

I find them pretty cute and charming.

  • Chewbacca Lives!

    Chewbacca Lives!

With so many rumours and assumptions flying around the filming of Episode VII, it’s really been like pulling teeth for news outlets to get any official confirmations from the studio on what’s going on. Today The Hollywood Reporter posted that Peter Mayhew has been confirmed to reprise his role as Chewbacca in the new movie. If Chewie is in the film, it can’t be too long before Disney confirms Ford’s involvement as well, right? Right?

Either way, having Chewie back is good news for fans of the original films (right? I mean, he was in Revenge which was the best of the three prequels for me) and after Abrams’ twitter confirmation of the triumphant return of R2-D2, it does seem one step closer to an official announcement that they are indeed getting the band back together. Filming has apparently already begun filming, without having a main cast locked in it would appear, but it could just be location shots, 2nd unit stuff, R2 spinning around in circles or who knows what.

Comments in the chatroom indicated to me that the news of Chewbacca’s return may be received negatively from die hard fans of the EU, of which I am not. Who knows, maybe he’ll be come back as a cyborg like so many before him. I’m wondering when the news that Boba Fett is returning will break…

  • Bricklandia Comic #1

Poor Chewie. He doesn’t even get recognized at the medal ceremony at the end of A New Hope (though to be fair neither did the other two surviving pilots on the Death Star assault, Red 2 Wedge Antilles and Gold 7 Keyan Farlander. Where are their medals huh?). He’s not bitter or anything. Ever the loyal soldier, he follows Han and joins the Rebel alliance and relocates to Hoth. I wonder if he’s ever resented Han for that whole medal ceremony deal. I’m sure he thinks about it, ’cause he seems awfully eager to take advantage of a particular situation. Will Chewie finally come out on top? For once?

And for the record, this is last week’s comic. It’s entirely my fault that’s being posted a few days late. We’re going to try and get back on track this week.

And yes we still have our regular story line. We’re just banking that for when we get desperate for jokes.

In other news, I’d like to give a big thanks to those who responded for our call for volunteers. Our time grid is nearly filled so if you’re thinking about volunteering, don’t hesitate to shoot us an email. For those of you who did respond, I sent back verification instructions. The deadline to submit t-shirt sizes for the volunteers is quickly approaching, so if you decide to respond later, you might get stuck with a shirt too small or too big. And we can’t have that now can we?

  • Gettin’ His Hurr Did

We don’t post nearly enough SW mocs these days. I woke up to this one from im.mick in the FBTB Flickr Outpost from this morning and I’m laughing too hard to not share it:
