Amazon Discounts 21010 Robie House, 21009 Farnsworth House by 40%

Amazon has discounted the impressive 21010 Robie House by 40%. You can pick up the Frank Lloyd Wright architectural standard for $119.93, down from $199.99 MSRP. This is the lowest price we’ve seen on this set and will probably be the lowest ever. Free shipping and no tax to most states makes it an even sweeter deal. Better act fast before Amazon realizes that Walmart sold out and they no longer need to price match.

But wait, there’s more! Amazon has also discounted 21009 Farnsworth House in a similar fashion. That set is discounted 39%, $36.42 down from $59.99 MSRP.

Other LEGO Architecture sets are seeing modest discounts as well.

10228 Haunted House now available: The cost is $179.99 but you’ll get free shipping and the free Zombie car set. It’s like killing three birds with one stone.

New Architecture set – 21014 Villa Savoye: You know, the last few Architecture sets have really been not sucky, you know? Not sucky as in not as bad as the first few sets. There really seems to have been a turn in the quality right around 21010 Robie House or even 21009 Farnsworth House before it. The latest entry celebrates Villa Savoye, located outside of Paris, France. Villa Savoye was built in 1931 by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret and serves as a classic example of the modern movement in architectural design. You can pick yours up today for $69.99 and get 660 pieces delivered to your door.

10212 Imperial Shuttle returns to Shop@Home: This may be your last chance to pick up the UCS Shuttle for retail. It disappeared from Shop@Home for a while but has come back. Otherwise, it’s pretty much gone from the supply chain though Target seems to still have some for sale. But unlike Target, you’ll get VIP points and the free Monster Fighters set.

Vote For The Next Architecture Set

Are you tired of tiny Architecture sets? Did you laugh out loud at 21008 Burj Khalifa set? Maybe you can change that. LEGO.com, on their Architecture microsite, is asking for your opinion on what you want to see as the next Architecture set. Unfortunately, there’s no way to express your opinion on what scale the model should be; we can only hope that 21010 Robie House is the first in a series of larger, more detailed, higher piece count sets. ‘Cause I’d hate to see how the Roman Colosseum would look at 100 pieces and a $20 dollar price point.

21010 Robie House Release Party Saturday 8/27

21010 Robie House - Front Building

Just a reminder that tomorrow Saturday August 27, 2011, there will be a “release party”, and I use that term loosely, held at the actual Robie House that Frank Lloyd Wright built. Of course, this only matters to people living in the Chicago area but if you’re one of those people and want to be one of the first to own what is for sure going to be the next gold standard for Architecture sets, you can pick one up between the hours of 10am to 4pm. Adam Reed Tucker will be on hand to talk about the set and possibly sign his autograph. Museum members can purchase the set for $179.99, saving 10% off of MSRP. Non-member price is $199.99 The Robie House is located at 5757 S. Woodlawn Ave Chicago, IL 60637.

If you don’t plan on going, the official on sale date for the set is September 1. We’ll announce its availability here if it’s any sooner.

Official Announcement: 21010 Robie House

21010 Robie House - Front Building

LEGO was kind enough to send over the above official image of the latest Architecture series set: 21010 Robie House. You can view a super hi-res photo to check out all the details. The official on-sale date is September 1, 2011. But if you attend the special launch event on August 27th, you can get your hands on the set early. The “member price” I mentioned in my previous post was for museum members.

About Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House sparked a revolution in residential architecture that still reverberates today. The Robie House was the first historic property to be declared a National Historic Landmark based solely upon its architectural merit. Designated by the American Institute of Architects as one of the 10 most significant structures of the 20th century, the impressive home features dramatic overhangs which appear to defy gravity and continuous bands of stunning art glass which dissolve the barrier between interior and exterior. It is an American treasure and celebrated as one of Chicago’s most important buildings. The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust presents guided tours of this architectural masterpiece located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, offering a first-hand experience of its amazing contemporary spaces and interpretation of Wright’s innovative 1908 design. The museum is open Thursday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum shop is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Monday. Tickets for tours are available at www.GoWright.org.
