Toys’R’Us Includes UCS Sets for BOGO 50%

Toys’R’Us finally included the big UCS sets in their Buy One Get One 50% off LEGO deal this week, and by big UCS sets, I mean 10188 Death Star, 10221 Super Star Destroyer, 10212 Imperial Shuttle, and 10225 R2-D2. 10225 R2-D2 is seeing a slight markup, $20 over MSRP. The other three are right at MSRP so you could see a potential savings of 25% if you pair two items of the same price.

Alternatively, if you live in a state where Amazon doesn’t charge sales tax, you should know that you might see a better deal buying 10221 Super Star Destroyer from there since it’s still priced at $319.99, a 20% discount. 10212 Imperial Shuttle is seeing a 19% discount, $50 off MSRP to ring up at $209.99. And 10225 R2D2? It’s seeing a 22% discount down to $139.97. 10188 Death Star? Still full price but that may change any day now.

French blog Hoth Bricks unveiled a new, previously unannounced LEGO Star Wars set for 2013, 75014 Battle of Hoth. The set features a newly designed snowspeeder (that’s number four, kids), speederbike, tauntaun, gun turret, seven minifigs, and a brick-built probe droid. No word on pricing yet or availability yet but it smells like a TRU exclusive. As soon as we get more info, we’ll share it.

Last Chance To Buy From Creations For Charity 2012

Now is the time...

With just 5 days left to buy an item from the Creations For Charity store, time is quickly running out to help raise money to buy LEGO sets for underprivileged children this holiday season. I’ve been honoured to be a part of this charity in my own small way for the past two years and just shipped off my 2012 donation to it’s new home over the weekend. All the items from the store have been reduced to their minimum price and at last glance there were items priced at as little as $2 like the CFC bracelet, so if you haven’t helped out yet but planned on making a purchase please take a look!

Digital Wizards Releases LEGO Avengers Movie

Digital Wizards has released their latest feature on their Youtube Channel, LEGO Avengers: Some Assembly Required. You might remember their work featured here before, The Two Towers in Two Minutes: Extended Edition. Much like that film, LEGO Avengers (sort of) retells the Avengers movie in a mere three minutes.

Fredoichi’s Bust-ed Captain America

Lego Captain America Bust

I’m really starting to like these bust statuettes. I’ve always avoided buying them by using the excuse that they looked stupid without any arms, but that’s just a lie I’ve told myself to prevent the possibility of starting yet another collection. Fredoichi‘s use of stickers in this build is quite impressive and it took me a minute or two to really see what he’d done. I hope to see more of these builds in the future and this is one more reason I can’t wait until those new Legends of Chima wing pieces are in circulation.
