Toys’R’Us 50% Sale, BOGO 50% Sale

Toys R Us

TRU has a few sales going on starting Today 12/21 through tomorrow Wednesday 12/22.

A number of items have been put on the 50% block: some LEGO Racers, impulse sets, and Bionicle. Full list below:

Some of the items above had the BOGO 50% offer attached, but after refreshing the pages a few times, some of the offers disappeared. Your mileage may vary.

Now for the BOGO deal. Currently, TRU is offering a BOGO 50% off all LEGO CIty themed sets the whole week. In addition to that, forum member ufjason linked us to this coupon/flyer that states ALL LEGO is on BOGO 50% off sale today 12/21 and tomorrow Wednesday 12/22. So I hit up the TRU site and verified that yes, indeed, ALL LEGO is on sale including Star Wars. The only exception mentioned was the new Pharaoh’s Quest line. If you’re willing to brave the crowds, you may score a nice early discount on the 2011 assortment.

If you buy online, today is the last day to order using standard shipping and still get it in time for Christmas.

I say this with every TRU news post during the run up to Christmas: please be wary of any potential additional markup that TRU may impose. If their pricing behavior from last year was any indication this would be the time where they mark up prices way up to highway robbery levels.

All that being said, you should know that TRU is now in marathon mode, that is, they are open 24 hours starting today through Christmas Eve.

Good luck!

Last Minute Gift Guide

Family Guy: It's a Trap!

I know what it’s like. I’ve been there. You’re at the store, staring at the LEGO aisle, trying to figure out what would make a nice gift. What do you get the LEGO Star Wars fan who has every set known to man? You want to get them something you know they’ll like, but you’re tired of getting any old LEGO set that they probably have two, three, or ten times over. Well, I’m here to help you out and provide some alternative gifts that your LEGO Star Wars fan hopefully doesn’t have already, but would make a nice addition to their collection nonetheless.

The post is titled “last minute” and although Sunday the 19th isn’t quite considered last minute, there’s only 5 more shopping days left until Christmas and since I’m all about internet shopping these days, posting this list now will give you some time to either hunt these down in person or buy them online while taking into account shipping times. The items listed below link directly to the Amazon product page. Today is the last day to order to take advantage of Free Super Saver Shipping. If you’re a member of Amazon Prime/Student/Mom, you have until 7pm PST Wednesday 12/22. For more information on shipping deadlines, check out the shipping schedule page on Amazon.

And with that, let’s move on to the list.

New LEGO Star Wars III Gameplay Trailer

LEGO Star Wars III Screen Cap posted a new gameplay trailer of one of the epic battles that await you in the next LEGO Star Wars video game installment. Co-Project Lead Andrew Bell gives you a walkthrough on one battle that almost seems part real-time strategy and part hack’n’slash. I’d embed the video but they disabled that so you’ll have to hit this link to view it. The game is due out in March 2011 for all major platforms.

8129 AT-AT -$96 at Toys R Us

UPDATE: Forum member roar15 has shared a doorbuster coupon for $20 off any LEGO purchase $75 or more for Saturday 12/18 from 6 am-1 pm, in-store only. Not sure if this can be combined with the existing 20% off, but if you can get it to work, that would bring 8129 down to about $75! Definitely worth a try. Good luck!

8129 AT-AT

At Toys R Us, you can snag an 8129 AT-AT Walker for $95.99, 20% off TRU’s normal price of $119.99 (or $14 off regular MSRP). It’s not a huge discount, but that brings it down to about what the original 4483 AT-AT cost back in 2003.

Sale runs Friday 12/17 and Saturday 12/18. You will also get the free 30005 Speeder Bike with purchase.

Amazon’s Plummeting Prices, Shipping Deadlines – Update 2

7789 Lotso's Dump Truck

Update 2: Free Super Saver Shipping deadline in time for Christmas delivery has been extended to December 19.

Update: It seems the BOGO page has been taken down with a message saying that “this deal has expired.” I pushed two Lotso’s dump truck through to the final order screen and still saw a 25% discount. If you act fast enough before they change their code, you can still net the discount.

This might be one of the last updates I do for Amazon. Their window for Christmas delivery using Free Super Saver Shipping closes on December 17, which is tomorrow. So if you’ve been procrastinating about ordering stuff from Amazon, tomorrow would be your deadline to save on shipping and still get things in time for Christmas. Of course, if you have Amazon Prime, that’s a whole other ball game. You can view their shipping schedule for more information.

One other thing you have to consider is that once an item that is sold and shipped by Amazon is sold out, third party vendors items become the default shopping option, and prices tend to shoot upwards once that happens. So with that, let’s move on to the deals.

Amazon still has their BOGO 50% off page up and running. Scanning the deals, I’ve spotted a few sets that continue to go lower in price.

Remember, all the sets above qualify for the BOGO 50% off discount.

Not on BOGO, but:

  • 7596 Trash Compactor Escape is discounted pretty nicely: $29, down $10 bucks and some change since our last mention.
  • The price of 8038 The Battle of Endor has slowly but steadily been dropping the past few days. It currently stands at $82.24, down from $99.99. One of the best OT sets ever made.
  • You can never have enough tauntauns, amirite? 7749 Echo Base is down to $21.19 with free 3-5 day standard shipping.
  • And finally, In LEGO Duplo news, 5816 Mack’s Road Trip is down to $29, down from $49.99.
