They couldn’t all be winners, could they?
Nope.
This is the second LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes set to be reviewed, and so far the line does not disappoint. Now, if you bought all the previous LEGO Batman sets and think the current DC releases aren’t up to snuff, then you would be right in some ways, but if you look at the sets on their own merits, you might actually enjoy them. I had set my expectations pretty low for this set, mostly turned off by the garish color scheme on Two-Face, his cronies and the truck to be honest, but ended up liking it in the end. The MSRP is $49.99 and for that you get 508 pieces, another set hitting that golden ratio but unfortunately this is where the gravy train stops as the other from the DC Universe sub-theme fare a little worse.
Arguably the most controversial of 2011’s Star Wars sets, the Advent Calendar has seen more than it’s fair share of nerd rage since it’s launch earlier this year. Due to the nature of the set I’m going to do this one a little differently. You get the first half of the countdown today and then I’ll do the last half daily as kind of a 12 days of Christmas/countdown thing. Capiche? So is this set worth the hard earned coin spent on it to countdown the days until you get your real presents?
(Spoiler Alert: You’re getting coal you naughty geeks)

As far as the DC portion of the LEGO Super Heroes line goes, this is the flagship set to get.
I keep trying to write short reviews for Cars, but I end up being a windbag so I can complain as much as possible. I will TRY to keep this one short but mostly because I told myself that I wouldn’t review the DC Super Heroes sets until I finished the Cars stuff. May contain spoilers.
And here we go with another LEGO Cars review where you’re probably expecting me to go off angrily at some miniscule aspect of the set and pile on more complaints. I can promise you that there’s less anger, but still a high level of disappointment.
There isn’t much to say about this set, good or bad. It’s just sort of blah.

Why is it so hard to successfully make one of the most iconic ships from this franchise? Is it merely because it’s so iconic? All I know is after as many times as they’ve redesigned this I would expect them to at least make something worth settling for.
It’s the latest Target exclusive polybag set and for some reason it isn’t destined for Target’s seasonal department. No, instead 30053 Republic Attack Cruiser (aka Venator) is relegated to a little hanger by the registers. No matter, as a fan of Mini sets, I naturally picked one up, but I have to admit, I was less than enthusiastic about it. There is something about this set that lacks the draw I’ve found in other Minis, like the Mini AAT or the Mini Vulture Droid, but what is it? Why am I not feeling it with this particular set? (more…)
