I’m a little late posting this but LEGO and NASA have teamed up to “inspire children to explore science, technology, engineering and math.” To kickstart this partnership, a small LEGO shuttle will accompany the crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery on it’s final flight to the International Space Station this Thursday at 3:30 EST.

In February 2011, NASA also plans to fly LEGO activities aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour to the ISS for the astronauts to build models, complete activities and record the results.

That’s not all, folks. LEGO also plans to release a series of official NASA sets next year under the LEGO CITY line.

But wait, there’s more! You can head over to LEGOspace.com in the next few days to see the full site as it is unveiled at the same time as the shuttle launch.

Thanks to Draykov for pointing out the The Brother’s Brick article and reminding me about my backlog.
