  • Superman Minifig Unveiled

    Superman Minifig

I just received the official images for the Superman minifig that the DC booth will be giving away at New York Comic Con this weekend. I’m not entirely sure what the distribution method will be but I’m pretty sure it’ll involve a line of some kind, waiting around for an undetermined number of minutes, and will be repeated daily. I know, helpful right? Below are more official images of the Batman and Green Lantern minifigs that will also be given away; they are the same exact figs that were offered at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year.

Staff Writer Rick Theroux will be attending the con on Friday and will be providing his initial impressions of the Batcave set along with a slew of images so stay tuned!

Going to New York Comic Con next week (October 13-16)? Well if you are stop by the DC Comics booth. In addition to the LEGO Batman and Green Lantern minfigs they’ll be given away, you may be lucky enough to walk away with a Superman minifig as well. I’ve been told that it will be “packaged” the same way as the Batman and Green Lantern minifigs from San Diego Comic Con. Also, somewhere in their booth they will be debuting the upcoming Batcave set in all its finalized glory.

Will you be attending NYCC with a camera in tow? Or willing to pick me up a Supes minifig for trade? Hit me up if you are!

  • “I Think You And I Are Destined To Do This Forever.”

Cubedudes: the Joker and the Dark Knight

Though CubeDude fever may have cooled over time as fads tend to do, they still trickle in from time to time and some just can’t help but make you want build your own version. ThatGuyWithTheBricks has dropped a great pair of Dudes in our forums based on Batman & The Joker from The Dark Knight and I have to admit, even though that Joker is not my favorite this CubeDude version is spot on and I’d be surprised to see a better rendition. Feel free to prove me wrong though.

  • Want SDCC Exclusives? LEGO & Brickset Are Giving Them Away!

    Win these minifigs!

Huw Millington over at Brickset.com is hosting a nice little giveaway. I won’t go into details here, but if you’d like to win the two SDCC exclusives above click the picture and follow the trail of breadcrumbs. The aim of this is to raise awareness for the LEGO Super Heroes Challenge building contest so I figured I’d include the link in that spirit. Otherwise, I want to win so you’ll get nothing more from me 😉

  • Tomar-Re Joins The Fine Clonier’s Corps

Kaminoan continues his current trend with another experiment in LEGO Superhero scale by heading back to the DC camp. If you’re not a comic book fan you may not be familiar with Tomar-Re, but he has been a part of the Green Lantern mythos since the Silver Age revival of the superhero genre. I can only hope that LEGO will keep the line going long enough to provide the fans with classic secondary characters like this, even if they do give him a rubber head. Come to think of it, if you’re reading this Jared, I’ve always thought the large LEGO trolls kinda look like Kilowog.

  • Superheroes Community Window at Costa Mesa

LEGO Brand Retail Costa Mesa Community Window - 1

Paul Lee, LEGO Ambassador for LUGOLA and all around good guy, set the theme for the Costa Mesa LEGO Brand Retail store for the next few weeks: Superheroes of Marvel and DC Comics. The display featured some large scale figs of famous superheroes from both brands, though DC Comics had a slightly larger presence. SandLUG member Matt Armstrong (monsterbrick), Mariann Asanuma (Model Gal) along with LUGOLA members Ezra (B. Ezra), Paul Lee (polywen), and myself helped fill out the display with miniland scale superheroes, miniature models, m-wings, and other items all to promote next year’s Superheroes license.

You can get a close up of Ezra’s contributions in his photostream.
