FBTB Draft 8: Last Call

This Saturday November 17th @ 10 am PST we’re drafting 10 copies of Star Wars 8128 Cad Bane’s Speeder, but we need one more participant (and hopefully a couple backups: if history is an indicator, you’ve got a good shot of making it in!)

See this forum thread for the full details, then add a post saying “CADZOOKS!” if you want to join us this weekend.

You can see the normal inventory for this set on Bricklink. The modified 10x inventory will go out in the next day or so as I finish sorting.

FBTB Draft 7: C-C-C-COMBO! Registration Opens Today

Registration opens at 4 pm PST TODAY for FBTB’s 7th online parts draft which will take place on Saturday October 20th at 10 am PST.

Click to see the Bricklink inventory for 7930 Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship and 7978 Angler Attack.

Still to be announced is how the figures will be split up (voice your opinion here) and how we’ll set the draft order.

10 participants will be drafting 20 sets total. The draft fee is $40, which covers the 50% off MSRP cost of the two sets, sales tax and ziplocks. All things being equal, you should receive an average of 589 parts for your money. There will be an additional nominal charge after the draft has been completed which will cover your exact shipping and packaging cost.

To register, post “C-C-C-COMBO!” in this topic at/after 4pm PST. The first nine responders will go into our Potential Participants pool, and everyone after that will go into a Standby List (not a bad place to be, the last few drafts considered!) Payment instructions will be sent out after we get 10 potentials.

FBTB Draft 7: C-C-C-COMBO!

Here’s your early “Save the Date” announcement for the next FBTB Draft. Our 7th(!) parts draft will be on Saturday October 20th.

This time we’re not only drafting TWO SETS, but we’re also going green – dark green.

Click here to see the Bricklink inventory for 7930 Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship and 7978 Angler Attack.

10 participants will be drafting 20 sets total (10 each of both sets.) The draft fee is $40, which covers the 50% off cost of the two sets plus tax. There will be an additional nominal charge after the draft has been completed which will cover your exact shipping and packaging cost.

Registration will open on Monday September 24th at 4 pm PST. I’ll post a followup item closer to registration day with the full lineup of draft rules so you know what you’re getting yourself into. A good primer would be to catch up the forum thread from our last draft.

FBTB DRAFT SIX: 8091 Swamp Speeder

The next FBTB Parts Draft will take place on Saturday September 8th!

We’ll be drafting 10 copies of Star Wars 8091 Republic Swamp Speeder for $16, about 50% off MSRP! (shipping charges will be calculated later for each participant.) Our very own Don Solo reviewed it on the site here in 2010, and although it didn’t score very high overall it did have strong marks for parts and minifigs!

You can see the inventory for this set on Bricklink.

The draft will follow the same rules as the last few drafts.

Draft registration will commence on Monday August 27th at 12 pm PST, which you can do in in this dedicated forum topic by simply posting “SWAMPY!” Feel free to post any and all questions or comments in the thread; however, anyone posting “SWAMPY!” before the clock hits 12 pm PST on August 27th will not be allowed to participate. Don’t jump the gun! After checking the list of people who have posted I will confirm everyone’s registration via private message and give everyone PayPal payment instructions, and our draft order will be decided by the order of payment received from participants.

Review: 10225 R2-D2

10225 R2-D2

It’s been a long time since the LEGO Star Wars line last saw a sculptural set. It was 2002 when 7194 Yoda was new on store shelves. Yoda, along with 10018 Darth Maul, must’ve not been hits since nothing followed, unless you count 10186 General Grievous. I don’t, since it’s a fundamentally different type of set, more closely related to the Star Wars Technic figures. So, if it’s been so many years since Yoda, was the [non-existent] wait for 10225 R2-D2 worth the it? (more…)

Ten More Years! LEGO Officially Renews Star Wars License

Today at the New York Toy Fair The LEGO Group and Lucasfilm Ltd. confirmed our suspicions that the Star Wars license wouldn’t be ending any time soon. They’ve signed on together for ten more years, although that doesn’t necessarily mean there will only be ten more years. Great news for fellow LEGO Star Wars fans here on FBTB and everywhere. You can view the full press release by clicking here or check the forum thread.

[NA] January 2012 LEGO Star Wars Now Available

Finally, after much waiting (too much, if you ask me) the latest wave of LEGO Star Wars sets are officially available in North America.

You can get a hold of these shiny, new sets via LEGOShop and Amazon. LEGOShop currently has the entire wave in stock, but you’ll want to note, the exclusive poster promotion ended on January 29th. Amazon, while missing the retailer exclusive sets, offers free shipping, miniscule discount, and no sales tax in some areas. The sets should also be available at brick and mortar retailers as well (with the exception of Walmart, apparently). Current availability will vary, so you might have to check with your favorite retailer for further information. And if you want to save $5, Amazon.com, Target.com, and Walmart.com are listing 9492 TIE Fighter at $49.99, or $5 off the MSRP of $54.99. This discount should apply in stores as well.

Check out the threads in our forums for discussion and links directly to the sets.
