Sick of the Movie yet? I know I’m not. I’ve only seen it once, and by my straw poll, I’m already behind the curve. I’m sure many of you have seen it more than once but if you’re looking for a new way to keep the magic alive, then check out this The LEGO Movie building event hosted by Barnes&Noble. Details are pretty light; the event is on March 1st, and all the image says is “build a scene from the movie” which could mean anything. I’m going to go out on a limb and say you can probably build a micromanager of some type, much like the LEGO Brand Retail monthly mini model build from earlier this month. Just a wild guess. Anyways, plug in your zip code to see if a store near you is participating. I would advise getting there early and mentally prepare yourself for a mob scene.

I’m sort of back after that exhausting Comic Con trip. Still exhausted, but I’m going through my backed up email and saw this come through my feeds. Starting today, July 25 through Sunday July 28, 450 Barnes & Noble locations will host a LEGO Architecture Studio event. There will be a discussion, Q&A, and a building event with some stores hosting a building competition where teams of five compete by building original architectural designs. Most events start at 7:00pm and vary by location. You can hit the BN site to find a participating store near you. Also, I can’t seem to dig up any further details, but there seems to be an exclusive LEGO Architecture set that will only be sold at Barnes & Noble and LEGO Brand Retail stores. Full press release below:
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 23, 2013–
Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, today announced that 450 Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will host their first-ever LEGO Architecture Studio events and celebrations from July 25-28.
The LEGO Architecture Studio event will feature local architecture experts discussing and demonstrating the parameters and design process in architecture using LEGO bricks to educate and inspire the hands-on building that follows. Participants will have the opportunity to reference the LEGO 250 guide book, experiment and create original architectural designs with more than 1,200 monochromatic building pieces, and learn a few architectural concepts such as scale, mass and density, symmetry, modules and repetition, space and section and surface.
Additionally, the store will offer architecture fans the first look at a new LEGO Architecture product that can only be found for sale in Barnes & Noble and LEGO brand outlets from July 25-28.
“This event is perfect for anyone interested in visual design and the important and profound role design plays in our communities. Aspiring architects, design enthusiasts and LEGO fans will have a hands-on opportunity to explore concepts and discover new insights by constructing 3D models,” said Kathleen Campisano, Vice President, Toys & Games, Barnes & Noble, Inc. “Barnes & Noble is excited to partner with LEGO to continue the world-wide conversation and collaborative nature of architectural design through these engaging and fun events.”
The LEGO Architecture Studio event is free and open to the public. For further details, contact your local Barnes & Noble store, or visit the Barnes & Noble Store Locator to see what stores in your area will be offering the event.

Update 11/21: Fred Meyer and Walgreens have been added.
Here’s our annual report on Black Friday ads mentioning LEGO. The deals are pretty lackluster compared to previous years no doubt due to LEGO’s rising popularity. Still, if you’re out and about and manage to find yourself at any of the retailers below, you might be able to score something. Some deals are good only for a few hours, some all day or all weekend. I’ve made a note of wh I’ve also listed the store hours where available. Most of the deals are for in store only. Cyber Monday should bring a few more deals around. We’ll be updating this post as more info trickles in. All information should be solidifed by Wednesday night so check back often. If you have sales news to share, hit us up through our contact page.

Forum member zachatack posted this coupon for $40 off of any one toy, game, puzzle or gift in store at Barnes & Noble that he already used to pick up some Star Wars sets. Makes for a pretty sweet deal if you pull out your collection of fake moustaches and print out a few of these bad boys. May want to work on a couple of accents too just in case the staff start to get wise. The coupon expires on the 24th, so if you’re looking for a good deal prior to black friday this may be the one for you.
Thanks to forum member warpug, you can use coupon code A4N4M4V at Barnes&Noble.com to receive 30% off a single LEGO set. I’m not sure what the limitations are; warpug was able to get it to work off of a Star Wars set, and it seemed to work on the Ninjago Fire Temple set I had in my cart, so go get something while the gettin’s good!
And the sales keep rolling in… Darth Maul from our forums informs us that BN.com is offering a 30% off a single item. Use coupon code H4W9V7M before January 10, 2011. They offer free shipping on orders over $25, making avoiding the rush of holiday shopping that much easier.
Barnes&Noble is having a BOGO sale on LEGO Harry Potter. Buy one get one 50% off. Use coupon code “A9N8U4H” for an additional 15% off. Hogwarts Castle and Hogwarts Express seem to be out of stock at the moment, but it’s a good way to get some of the other sets at a good discount. Shipping is free so you’ll probably just end up paying tax. 2x 4840 The Burrow came out to $75.82 pretax. Good luck!
Barnes&Noble is having a 3 for 2 sale on select toys. All toys marked with the “Toys and Games” logo count towards the discount. Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to scan which ones qualify short of viewing the individual product page, but with some perseverance I’m sure you’ll find something worthwhile, much like forum member dhaas06. He managed to get 3x 4842 Hogwarts Castles for around $220 pretax. Good luck.
Barnes&Noble.com has LEGO Harry Potter 4841 Hogwarts Express for $71.95 with free shipping. Apply coupon code U3D8B4J (15% off a single item) and the price gets knocked down to $61 and some change. If Hogwarts Express isn’t your cup of tea, they have a few other LEGO items offered on a slight discount such as 4842 Hogwarts Castle for $116.95 and 7946 King’s Castle for $89.95.
Barnes&Noble.com is currently having a BOGO 50% off sale on select LEGO items. Not all LEGO is included. So far, I’ve noticed that most of the Architecture series qualifies, as well as some Creator, some Games, Books (including the Brickmaster books), and other odds and ends. Do a search for “LEGO” and look for the “Kids Sale Buy 1 Get 1 50% off” graphic next to the item in your search results. WIth free shipping on orders over $25, you’re bound to find something worthwhile. Offer is good once per customer per billing address and expires at 11:59pm October 6 Pacific Time. Choose wisely and good luck.
Update: BlueDragonZ provided a complete list of sets that are eligible for the BOGO discount.
