LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Game Trailer

How awesome is that video? I think it’s safe to say that everyone will want to play Hulk and just smash things. GameInformer is dedicating their February issue to LEGO gaming, leading off with the trailer posted above as well as the awesome cover art below. I’ll probably try and buy the actual issue but if you’re more digitally inclined, they have a digital edition of the magazine available on a variety of platforms. They’ll be covering the game as well as LEGO City Undercover. You can follow their coverage on their dedicated LEGO page.

And Iron Man still looks dumb.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game Is On The Way!

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game

We all knew this was an inevitability right, RIGHT? I can’t even express how happy this makes me right now, or how much I look forward to playing (and reviewing) this game! Exclaimation point! Here’s the skinny from

Marvel super heroes are assembling for an action-packed, brick-smashing good time! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group and Marvel Entertainment announced today that “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” will be available beginning Fall 2013 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, the Wii U system and Windows PC, as well as the Nintendo DS handheld system, Nintendo 3DS handheld system and PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system. “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” is the first instalment in the highly successful LEGO videogame franchise to feature famous Marvel characters.

“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,” coming Fall 2013

“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” complements the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes construction toy collection, which brings the characters, vehicles and action of Marvel’s renowned universe to the world of LEGO build-and-play adventure. There are currently eight iconic scenes from the X-Men, Iron Man and Spider-Man franchises available and more construction sets tied to the new “Iron Man 3″ feature film will launch later this spring.

“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” offers an original storyline in which Nick Fury calls upon Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine and other heroes spanning the Marvel Universe to save Earth from such threats as the vengeance of Loki and the hunger of Galactus, Devourer of the Worlds. LEGO and Marvel fans will enjoy classic LEGO videogame adventure and humor, while playing as their favorite Marvel characters.

“We’re very excited to bring a myriad of classic Marvel characters to life in LEGO form for some fun, family-friendly gameplay in ‘LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,’” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games Publishing. “Players will brave the ultimate mission to save the world as they explore famous landmarks in LEGO New York and take the adventure beyond Earth to iconic locations in the Marvel Universe.”

“Fans of both LEGO and Marvel have wanted this game for years, and we’re addressing that demand with more Marvel Universe characters than ever in a console game,” said TQ Jefferson, Vice President, Games Production, Marvel Entertainment. “If you’re a fan of Spider-Man, the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy or scores of other Marvel characters, this is the game for you.”

In “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,” players will unlock more than 100 characters from across the Marvel Universe, including fan favorites like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Loki and Galactus! The game will pack in a plethora of super-cool character abilities, combat-like action sequences, epic battle scenes, puzzle-solving and a unique story told with playful LEGO humor.

“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” is being developed by TT Games and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. For more information, please visit

Batman was the big wet blanket of an anchor for DC’s Super Hero game, but it sounds like Marvel is going to give a lot of beloved (and a few more obscure, but nonetheless awesome) characters a chance to shine.

Announcing Palpatine’s Shrink-O-Matic Ray Contest

Palpatine's Shrink-O-Matic Ray Contest

That Battle of Hoth game. Oh man, when I saw the microfigs that you get with the game I got really excited. I mean look at them:

3866 Microfigs

Awesome! There is so much potential in building with a whole new scale. When I finally got my hands on the game what an utter disappointment those vehicles were. I mean look at this:

Not awesome! This thing is supposed to be a snowspeeder. And the microfigs are supposed to go where the two exposed studs are behind the trans-smoke cheese. They are basically glorified advent calendar models but far less accurate. I totally get that they’re supposed to be small and fit on the game “board” you build, but that doesn’t really satisfy my desire to see awesome ships built for microfigs. This is where you come in.

Imagine taking Emperor Palpatine’s much feared Shrink-O-Matic Ray, firing it at System scale LEGO Star Wars set and shrinking it down to fit a microfig in place of where a minifig would normally sit. That is your goal, to build that microfig scale vehicle, fighter, or capital ship. Now the term ‘scale’ is used rather loosely here. You can build an accurate model that would be on par with the Midi-scale Millenium Falcon, or go even smaller and more Chibi-like: it could be really small scale but with an enlarged cockpit. Just don’t take an existing set and throw your microfig in it and call it a day. People will know what you’re trying to do, point, laugh and ridicule you publicly and privately. Prizes? Well, the winner will get a copy of 3866 The Battle of Hoth board game for starters. It’s not available in the US due to a license Hasbro has that prevents LEGO from selling Star Wars board games in the US, but it is available to the rest of the world. So it could be a big deal to someone. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. More prize information as well as the complete set of rules are in the official contest thread. There will be five winners in all, so get building and good luck!

Brick Vader’s Hobbiton Diorama

I’m not much of a Lord of the Rings fan, and the Hobbit isn’t exactly high up on my list of things to do in my spare time. I can, though, appreciate the art direction of the films and the world that is created. Those Hobbits, as much as they try and not get involved with whatever else is going on in Middle Earth, they seem to be in the thick of it like all the time. Anyways, Brick Vader created a really nice diorama of a Hobbit’s home-in-a-hillside in a circular format. On the hillside edge, you can peek inside to view the living quarters. I thought that was a nice touch. More pictures on Imperium der Steine.

Star Wars Planet Series 3 Spotted In The Wild

Forum member DarthBuilder reports finding one of the newest planet sets on 75008 TIE Bomber & Asteroid Field. It’s been said before, but I’ll say it again: Asteroid Field isn’t a planet. Space isn’t a planet. Why not make the planet brown and print some craters and other terrain on it to, you know, make it look like an actual asteroid. Though their website isn’t actually selling it yet, you can use the page to find it in store at your local store. Asking price is $9.99.
