Toys’R’Us Actually Has a Decent Sale

I received an email last night describing an unadvertised sale that Toys’R’Us brick and mortar stores. I drove down to my local store last night and can verify that the sale is true. Right now through November 23, select sets are marked down 50% off*. The reason for that asterisk is that TRU typically inflates their price up beyond MSRP, but even with their additional markup, the final sale price is still 30-36% off of MSRP. For example, I was able to pick up The Lone Ranger set 79108 Stagecoach Escape is priced $39.99. Normal MSRP for the set is $29.99. Final out-the-door price before tax was just $19.99, 33% off! I also picked up 79105 Baxter Robot Rampage for $24.99 (normal MSRP $39.99), and 75014 Battle of Hoth for $29.99 (normal MSRP $49.99). The list below isn’t comprehensive of everything that’s on sale, so use the price scanner to double check. Good luck!

Legends of Chima Eris’ Interceptor 19.99
City Satellite Launch Pad 11.99
City Tanker Truck 10.99
Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase 64.99
Castle The Gatehouse Raid 17.49
Star Wars Battle of Hoth 29.99
Star Wars Desert Skiff 17.49
Technic Tractor 22.49
Lone Ranger Stag ecoach Escape 19.99
Lone Ranger Colby City Showdown 32.49
Castle Gold Getaway 10.99

Review: 79108 Stagecoach Escape

79108 Stagecoach Escape

Hi FBTB, it’s me, Casey aka cas! That’s right, it’s the guy you’ve completely forgotten about or never really knew! Anyway, after becoming overwhelmed with a series of “other things,” which alternatively may be called “reality” or “life,” I’ve finally broken free for a moment. Free enough to hold the brick again and to do some sweet, sweet reviews. Well, enough about that, let’s get straight to it, shall we. For my first review of 2013, I’ve decided to start with a set I’ve wanted since 1996. 1996, as you may recall (or not, if you are reading this and you weren’t yet born – yikes!) was the year LEGO debuted the Western theme. It was a marvelous theme, and since it’s retirement, many fans, including myself have clamored for its return. Well, it has returned. Sort of. Thanks to Disney’s The Lone Ranger, we finally have our hands on a stagecoach, and some other western themed sets, but honestly, I’m not nearly as interested in those as I am 79108 Stagecoach Escape. Amazon, Shop@Home Sells Full Lone Ranger Line

This happened a few days ago but I finally have some time to catch up. If you’ve been trying to get your hands on what looks to be a fantastic Lone Ranger line, you can pick up the full line or just the ones you want from both Amazon and LEGO Shop@Home. The prices are the same no matter which site you shop from. Amazon doesn’t charge tax to most states. Amazon has free shipping on orders $25 or more, free with no minimum if you’re a Prime member; Shop@Home will ship for free at $75 or more but you also get VIP points. You can’t lose no matter which option you pick, so pick your poison and play well:

The Lone Ranger Box Official Box Art

79108 - 3

In case you’ve forgotten what the official box art looks like for the The Lone Ranger sets, here they are. The three sets I’m looking forward to are 79108 Stagecoach Escape pictured above, 79109 Colby City Showdown, and 79110 Silver Mine Shootout. But mostly the Stagecoach set because it’s awesome.

The Lone Rangers Videos Explode Onto Youtube

The last of the set videos to included Erik Varszegi’s demonstations cover the new Lone Ranger theme. When I first saw these sets I was underwhelmed to say the least, but after seeing them in person with Erik’s demos I’ve changed my tune. These are the rootin’-est, tootin’-est, explodin’-est, horse on a hot train roof sets I’ve seen and I want them all. On the same note, based on all the great play features and the thought of all these wild west explosions on screen, I have even less interest in seeing the film. Watch the videos and see for yourself.

Hi-yo, Silver! Away!

Lone Ranger Fully Loaded

79111 Constitution Train Chase 1

We just finished uploading all of our Lone Ranger photo assets (video is still to come!). With tons of play features (read as: exploding things), this series really does pay homage well to the old Wild West theme from a few years back, and provides excellent play opportunity for the little Michael Bay in all of us. There are a total of five sets ranging in price from the $12.99 79106 Cavalry Builder Set all the way up the $99.99 79111 Constitution Train Chase set. The absolute gem in the theme? Without a doubt, 79108 Stagecoach Escape.

79110 Silver Mine Shootout 1 79109 Colby City Showdown 1
79108 Stagecoach Escape 1 79107 Comanche Camp 1
79106 Cavalry Builder Set 1

We’ll be back after a short dinner break with Lord of the Rings and the non-licensed IPs.
