It seemed like an average Wednesday. Thursday? The quarantine’s kinda blending all my days together. It seemed like an average morning, when out of NOWHERE, Nintendo just casually throws out the trailer to a new Paper Mario.
Paper Mario’s history is incredible, because it’s been resting on the laurels of the original Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for nearly two decades now, with the three (and a half) games that have come after being largely discarded by diehard classic Paper Mario fans.
Even now, around the Internet, I’m seeing worry that this game won’t embrace its RPG roots, there won’t be interesting partners, or that it’ll be just like the last few, unmemorable games.
Myself, I think it looks cute. But I fully expect outrage from fans.
Either way, the game releases in two months on July 17th, 2020.
