Nintendo has been increasingly letting other companies explore some of their IPs as of late, taking them in different directions than Nintendo ever would and doing different things. It seems like a win-win-win situation… Nintendo still controls the canon games and main aspects, developers get an established IP to work from, and customers get more games than we’d normally see come out.

The Legend of Zelda series has gotten this before, with the woefully underrated Hyrule Warriors game having shown up on WiiU, New 3DS, and Switch. The Zelda canon is a deep, wonderful well that makes little to no sense… and that means we can get crazy things like Cadence of Hyrule coming from Brace Yourself Game. They’re best known for Crypt of the NecroDancer… a rogue-like rhythm game that lets you play with controllers or dance pads on some other platforms. I honestly haven’t played it, but there’s enough in the trailer for this game to make me want it, and probably to go home after work and pick up the game its based on. I mean, it’s worth it alone for the chance to play as Zelda and Link in combat situations, even if the controls are going to be kind of bonkers.

Also, I kind of want the song that plays in the trailer…
