There’s ugly, and then there’s today’s polybag set, 30564 Build your own Monster. It’s a 3-in-1 set where nothing you build is worth keeping built ’cause every model is ugly as sin.

This is the main model. I think it’s supposed to be a winged creature.

This is supposed to be a monster car?

And this is a… monster plane?

The big green leafy bits are doing all the heavy lifting. Acting not as green leafy bits at all in any of the models, but wings in one, doors in another, and wings again on the plane. I get that they are supposed to be monsters. The only positive I can say is that at least for the vehicle modes, there is room for a pilot or driver minifig. But no such minifig was included in the set so… yeah.

Honestly, I can’t fathom why this was put together as a set. My only guess was that it was testing the limits of the plant-based, non-ABS leafy elements. Assuming of course, this came out after that one promo box of plant-based plant elements. I don’t know, I can’t be bothered to look it up. Having to build this thing three times took the wind out of my sails. There’s nothing about this set that is appealing in any, not even as a parts pack. Unless, of course, you want a bunch of lime parts then this set is for you (but even then I highly doubt you’ll find anything in this set worthwhile).

Does It Suck or Does It Rock?

This set sucks! I can’t even.

You Can Win This And Every Other Polybag I Review This Year

I’ll be raffling every polybag I review this year in one big lot, all 260 sets (with the possibility of more). Each set will be individually stored in a ziploc baggie complete with the extra pieces, instructions, and the actual polybag bag it came in. The cost of a raffle ticket is just $1 USD and you can enter as many times as you want. Send a PayPal payment to paypal@fbtb.net for $1 USD for every ticket you want to purchase. DO NOT send one payment for multiple entries i.e. do not send one $5 USD payment for five tickets; five $1 USD payments must be made insteavd. Raffle is open to everyone in the world except where raffles are illegal. Be sure to put “POLYBAG RAFFLE” in the notes section of the payment in order to be entered successfully. Winner will be drawn sometime early January 2023 and contacted at the PayPal email address the payment was sent from to arrange for delivery.
