Today, LEGO announced a revamp of their retired 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van, the T2 model aptly named 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van. Creative, I know.
The first ting you should know is that the T2 set’s final build measures 15cm / 6″ high, 14cm / 5.5″ wide and 35cm / 13.5″ long. The original 10220 T1 set by comparison is 14cm / 5.5″ high and 30cm / 11.8″ long. Oddly enough, the product page for 10220 doesn’t specify a width measurement. I guess it is exactly one LEGO T1 wide. It’s a shame they are not built to the same scale.
Just like the real-life model, the roof expands for a sleeping compartment. You can also build some beach chairs and a surfboard.
The interior looks to be fully detailed just like the T1 model and the side opens up for better access to the T1’s guts.
