LEGO Ideas made two big announcements today for sets that have reached the coveted approved status: Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night by legotruman and Sonic Mania: Green Hill Zone by toastergrl.

Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night

Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night was the lone project to make the cut out of the field of 35 projects. Back when the review was announced, I had predicted that Community would have been green-lit but I guess I was wrong. My other two predictions, The Mountain Windmill and Seasons In Time: Calendar, also did not pan out. I scratch my head a bit in how Starry Night will be turned into a set. It’s rare that an approved project makes it from concept to set without LEGO intervening and changing it in some fundamental way but given the recent mosaic sets we’ve been getting, this may end up as one of those. We shall see.

Sonic Mania: Green Hill Zone

The other project, Sonic Mania: Green Hill Zone, was first being reviewed under the First 2020 review but needed additional time for consideration. It seems that SEGA is fully on board with it now and dare I say it opening the door for additional Sonic-based sets. Since the movie has come and gone, they’ve missed a prime marketing opportunity, but no matter, I’m sure Sonic fans will be picking this one up. The image above is the
