An internal memo at TTGames confirms that LEGO Dimensions is cancelled for good. The memo reads:
“Thanks so much to everyone for making Dimensions possible. As difficult as it has been, it is worth celebrating the incredible achievement it represents in the quality of the game, the amazing blend of IPs and the challenging technical demands it presented. It stands as a real testament to the talent within TT.”
I’m sure there is more to it than that, but that is all I could find on the internet. There is an article over at Eurogamer that digs deep into what could have been and what went wrong with the game. I agree with a lot of the points that the article raises. It’s a bit lengthy but worth reading.
My two cents? Gameplay wasn’t compelling enough; little to no reason to buy all the packs; game couldn’t figure out who it was trying to appeal to; and the price. We tried to get into here and stream it on twitch, but it just wasn’t fun enough.
While I am not exactly crying over its demise despite the image up top, I do hope that no one at TTGames loses their job because of it. Maybe now they can patch the unobtainable gold brick bug in TLNM Video Game. I am looking forward to the clearance sales and with some luck I’ll be visiting 99¢ stores again in the near future. I haven’t picked up the last couple of waves and I definitely want to complete the Teen Titans team.
