When you first see the box, you'll know this isn't just another Star Wars LEGO set. The black and white embossed shot of the fighter has an almost silver quality. Set against a black background, and the box itself will turn your head.

When I had seen the first shots and then the price point for this set ($150 U.S.), I was reluctant - that's alot of money for what amounts to "just another version of the X-Wing." But now having put this set together, I realize that it is indeed another version of the Incom T-658 X-Wing. It's the BEST ONE YET. And I'm not just comparing it to set 7140. I'm comparing it to everything . . .

If you're into parts, then this set will make you faint. Intersperced with alot of Technic pieces, there is stuff in here that I'm not familiar with. 1304 pieces total, laid out very well and clearly in the thick instructions manual. The manual is broken up into 10 sections; 8 for the fighter, 1 for the stand and 1 for advertising. There is a cool section in the back that is full of information on Incom and the X-Wing.

The final result? The fighter is stunning. I've never really appreciated this fighter, but this version looks like a deadly bird of prey. A knob in the back opens and closes the foils, and it sits well atop the display stand that you put together.

This will take several hours to put together, and there are labels included as well for extra detail. As my soon-to-be 3yr. old daughter was picking through the yellow pieces and my wife was helping me find bricks, it occurred to me that this set and it's companion (the UCS TIE Interceptor) would be fantastic projects for parents and their children. I know alot of you out there have kids, so keep this set in mind for those blistering summer afternoons.

Final word? Hands down, this is the gem of the Star Wars LEGO line. BELIEVE IT.
