In the case of the Episode III Jedi Starfighter, smaller is better. You'll remember my not-so-glowing review of 7256 Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid; surprisingly, the MINI version of the ship is actually really nice.
Proportionally speaking, it's a bit off, but then again, it's a MINI model, so it's expected. It's a bit wider in relation to its length, but the general shape and feel to it is spot on. The flag elements used for the upper and lower wing flaps don't fold flat, but that's actually a good thing since the construction allows for the flaps to stay solid at a constant angle, as you can see here. The lower wing flaps have double duty to also serve as landing gear. It balances fairly nicely even though the model has a tendency to tip forward. Despite that, the model has a really nice hover effect going on.
Promotional Availability: 6966 MINI Jedi Starfighter was available as giveaway through LEGO Shop@Home, free with the purchase of 7256 Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid. It was also available to participants of the Star Wars mural building event at LEGO retail stores and outlets during May 2005.
