Inside LEGO's PMD

Postby Daz Hoo » Fri Jan 27, 2012 2:21 pm

PMD: Product & Marketing Developpement.

Generally speaking, that's the name of the building in Billund were LEGO designers create the sets that end up in LEGO's line of products. Usually, LEGO doesn't permit pictures to be taken in this building, but since it was recently completely remodeled, the design team that did the work was allowed by LEGO to take some pictures to showcase their work.

You can view these picture here:

Personally, I would love to take a ride on that slide!

Thanks to my buddy Pierre Normandin, LEGO CITY designer, for the link and the heads-up.

That's stupendous! Especially the slide & the lit "cubes" display table - a simple yet elegant (and effective) design. Way better than my "jam it wherever it fits" display system. Who wouldn't want to work there? On the whole, it kinda reminds me of Pixar's HQ a bit.

Two of the strongest companies right now, encouraging creativity rather than stifling it - hopefully that catches on.

Great link!

Yeah, I'll take a UCS TIE Fighter, please.

Looks like a version of 9525 Pre Viszla's Starfighter is there too, neat.

Yeah, I spent way too much time looking over the pics for useless bits of cool.

the library of pieces is what floored me - and how they have the pieces stuck to the end of each row of shelving... sort of a visual / brick dewey decimal system. sooo jealous.

here's a bit in english:
