Spring/Summer Clearance Finds

Wandered over to Walmart and they have most of the Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter sets on 30-40% off red tags, as well as Alien Conquest Motherships for $40 and Hero Factory sets discounted. Summer sets are on the way, and that space needs to be cleared. I'm going to play the long game and see how deeply discounted they're going to go.

Looks like it's clearance season again. Anyone finding anything good?

Haven't posted here in a while. Near one Wal*Mart here in Lynchburg VA most Pirates sets were 30% off, but the $40 Mill set wasn't on sale at all. Weird.

Target had most of the SW sets lowered $2-$5, a couple larger sets were $10 or $15 off, but nothing too exciting. However, the Sith Nightspeeder - listed as the "Geonosis Battlepack" (?) on the shelf upc - had been listed at 19.99 and was marked down to 15.99 - almost $10 off MSRP. I had been waiting to get it at a decent price, so picked one of those up. A lot of the city sets were $2 off.

I saw many of the same deals that GIR3691 saw at Walmart - everything but Isla de la Muerta and the Black Pearl were marked down about $5-$10. From what I remember, Queen Anne's Revenge may have been marked down $30 or more. Aside from that, they had a couple of Clone Turbo Tanks on clearance for $80 and some of the Disney Duplo sets marked down a bit. My local Walmart doesn't do a very good job of inventory management, though, and usually doesn't make room for new sets in a timely manner. Target is much better in this aspect.

Happened into a KMart today and found PotC Aqua de Vida for $15. Normally $20 I think so a decent price.

Local Kmart had 50% of clearance so got a Queens Anne Revenge for 30 and PoTC Mill for 15. Normally my local Kmart is a bust but this time the rumors proved true. Nothing on any Star Wars sets though.

There was a big Lego clearance by Kmart online, with local pick-up only (?), but it's pretty much all over.
I found out about it from Slickdeals.net, and the feeding fenzy was astounding!
I almost snagged the Geonosian Fighter for $11 but it was sold out by the time I initiated checkout.
I was able to order the City Marina ($18.50) and Harry Potter Forbidden Forest ($4.50) last night.
My cell rang this morning. It was Kmart, telling me the Marina wasn't in stock, so I cancelled the order in disgust.
Blargh...

There might still be something for people not in the L.A. area since this is a pick-up only deal.
Here's the Slickdeals link just in case:

i'm in the Southern San Joaquin Valley (Kern County) and I just did a runby of all but the Taft Kmart. Delano still had the Friends Cafe set, but nothing else ( they ran out of the small HP Hogwarts set I had on order before I could pick it up). Wasco had 4 or 5 AC motherships on the 50% clearance area (22.50 each) but I didn't get any since I already got that same deal last time around. Tehachapi still had several Forbidden forests and one HP Quiditch Match after my in store pickups of one of each. Bakersfield is bone dry of any deals. Taft may have something but i'm not gonna make that trip!

Went to a local walmart hoping to find some lego star wars on clearance...no star wars discounted at all. Found the last millennium falcon but it scanned $138. And they didn't even have any pirate sets. So I left disappointed. Maybe I will try my oval kmart, but they never seem to have any clearance legos.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Walmart doesn't normally continue dropping clearance prices, do they? I'm considering picking up The Mill since my local store has a bunch of them, but I'm curious to see if they'll slash the clearance price again.

Wal-Mart's kind of weird with their clearance. They will periodically lower the clearance prices but it's more often if there are multiples on the shelf. My experience is that if they have a decent deal, I just get it.

I was actually there yesterday. I didn't find anything on Harry Potter sets, but 4182 was on sale at 40% off. That was the only red sticker on the shelf. I bought the mini Tie Fighter Polybag though XD

Walmart is notorious for not marking clearance. Most of the time I have to scan them to find out what is clearanced. Don't trust just what is marked.

At my local Walmart they had a good deal of PoTC sets marked down in price:

Captain's Cabin: $7.00
Cannibal Escape: $21.00
The Mill: $30.00
Whitecap Bay: $55.00

There were some Harry Potter sets too. They didn't have pricetags on the boxes or shelves, so I scanned to check.

I've also heard that K-Mart was having some insane sales too, but YMMV.

How did you get them to match the prices when the 50% sale when it's over? I could be mistaken as I never looked at the ad to see if the sale ran all week.
