Man, I'm stoked about this contest! I'm not exactly a mech expert like oh, let's say *COUGHZaneHoustonCOUGH,* but I know I'll have a blast! Already built most of the legs... :)

Good luck everyone!

Does it have to be a "Mech?" (Hero factory, bionicle, other moving parts, etc.) or can it just be built out of just plain brick? I already started building something, when it occurred to me that I should ask this question. I'm hoping it can just be brick! (more of a robot suit than a mech, but I think it should count)

as long as its made with official lego elements. we don't discriminate against bionicle/hero factory mechs vs. brick built mechs. that's a moral debate best left for other groups.

I'm curious how you came to the conclusion that "mech" was such a restrictive idea from a building standpoint. Especially considering how widespread the opposite approach seems.

Another great idea for the contest! It's hard to choose only one character,
but if my mech should describe it's personality,
I'll take Mad Hatter >:(

When I first heard the name of the contest being mentioned I quickly jumped over to check it out and I have to admit I was already hoping to get a chance to build a Boba Fett Mandalorian Mech or a Princess Leia Bun-Walker :p Marvel/DC definitely offers a lot of option and works just as well heh. Great initiative!
I'll have to look through the long list of heroes/villains now and pick a favorite.

Yes very restricting. About as restricting as using a continent/planet as a prison cell. XD

Look at it this way, you get them out the way you can hurry along to the baby store and not worry about the postal office, trust me with one off spring its tough, two on the other hand.. another story, this is coming from one father to another

Thanks for the wishes, I think this contest puts about 90% of the field out of there comfortzone, so the results will be outstanding, come November, its gonna rain Mech and Dogs.. XD

Started my minifig design and mecha building and posting pics. Peter Parker Zombie and his Zombie Spiderman Mecha. FIRST! I love doing mecha mash-ups, my last was the R2-D2 minifig scale train engine.

Are there any size limitations? (thinking of ant-man & Hulk mechs)
Does the enclosed cockpit have to be the 'head' of the mech?
Is there a limit to the amount of appendages? Like if I do a mech for Spiral, or something crazy for B'wana Beast

I don't believe that overly much, I was just making sure.

• Pick one hero or one villain only, and build them a fitting robot to fight with.

I would assume with that being said, color-schemes are an important part of the mech?

No unofficial elements. I assume this would also include not using Brickarms or any other custom company for weaponry?
Thanks! I look forward to this contest. :D

Lego junkie : I would say that color schemes are pretty integral to the task at hand. You really want someone to be able to look at what you've built and know what superhero it's for without even needing to see the minifigure.

The_Customizer: correct.
