I’ve posted here occasionally that I am pretty big into Dungeons & Dragons; I’ve always meant to write about it more here, and I’ve got several unfinished draft articles here to finish some day. In the meantime, if you’ve been curious or just need to get an extra or replacement copy*… Amazon is putting an even bigger discount on the new(ish) gift set of the Core Books and a DM Screen Gift Set. Amazon often has the books marked down considerably, but the combination of a $98 discount and a $22-off coupon on top of this is probably one of the best deals I’ve seen.
For those interested, these are the books you really need to run a game… you only really need the Player’s Handbook as a player, but the Dungeon Master’s Guide and the Monster Manual are incredibly useful to have as well. There are a lot of other good discounts going on, and if you’re curious to start, I’d direct you to the Essentials Box set, which has rules for running 2-player games (or more), or the Starter Set, with a fantastic starter adventure and some other useful tools.
If you’re looking to get more into the “please seek help” range, which you can be identified when your shelf starts to look like mine, there are a lot of other great books available for a discounted price as well. The recently-released Eberron: Rising from the Last War setting is $29, and gives a little Steampunk flavor for your D&D fantasy setting, or the “basically essential” Xanathar’s Guide to Everything is $26.49. Basically, it’s as good of time as any to try out D&D.
