LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 Preview

In more video game news, Eurogamer.net has posted a rather in-depth preview of the new LEGO Harry Potter game due out in May, also by TT Games. While you may scoff at the idea of yet another hack’n'slash LEGO game from their tried-and-true formula, it sounds like they tweaked enough of the game play to breath a little bit more life into their game engine. An excerpt:

Far more than a simple interactive menu, the school is the place where Harry and friends will attend lessons, learning new kinds of spells, which will in turn open up more of the story. Starting the game – which, as the title suggests, charts the narratives of the first four books – with no knowledge of magic whatsoever, by the end of the adventure, Harry will have filled up a reassuringly spacious selection wheel of powers.

Sounds like TT Games is including a lot more RPG elements to the game. The game is to be released in May of this year, and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com with their low price guarantee. The game will be available for the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, DS, PSP, and Windows PC.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Due Out This Fall

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

Kotaku is reporting that LucasArts and Traveler’s Tales Games are teaming up once again for a new LEGO Star Wars games set against The Clone Wars saga. The LEGO games are a cash cow for all vested parties, so it comes as no surprise that a game set against the cartoon series is coming out. I am surprised, however, that it’s not labeled as “LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Season 1″ to really take advantage of the franchise. Game is due out this fall so there’s still time to change the name.
