Marvel’s LEGO Variant Covers For September 25th, 2013

Nova #8

This Wednesday’s new comic book day will bring us three covers promoting the upcoming LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game. I had originally listed Hawkeye #15 and Guardians of the Galaxy #7 on for this date as well, but GotG #6 is actually the issue out this week and Hawkeye #14 isn’t even scheduled on until October so the timeframes are hitting some of the usual hiccups. You’ll still get Nova #8, Uncanny Avengers #12 and Wolverine & the X-men #36 which I’m actually just going back to read the full run of now. Also, the two covers due next week for All New X-Men #17 and Marvel Universe: Avengers Assemble #1 seem to be on schedule. Also, Marvel was kind enough to contact us and send along the final art images for all the covers, so I will be updating the gallery very soon with the new images.

As Ace mentioned last week, please try and support local businesses if possible by hittting up the Comic Shop Locator and punching in your zip code. You may save a few bucks and keep it in your community too!

Marvel LEGO Variant Covers Primer & Gallery

Superior Spider-Man #19 - LEGO Sketch Variant

With the first of the upcoming Marvel LEGO Variant Covers set to drop this week with X-men #5 and Mighty Avengers #1, we thought it might be a good idea to go over some of the details on how these variant covers work. I’m also putting all of the covers in this post as a sort of all in one gallery to keep track of the issues for those interested. There are five of the forty two missing at this point, but I will add them to this post when they pop up. If you collect comics you probably know all this already, anyone for whom comics is not their usual collectable may find this helpful. One thing is certain in both cases, it’s going to cost you.

CBR Reveals Two More Marvel Comics LEGO Variant Covers

Uncanny Avengers #12 - LEGO VariantMighty Avengers #1 - LEGO Variant

It’s new comic book day and CBR is celebrating by revealing two more exclusive Marvel Comics LEGO variant covers to help you get over this weeks hump. This time Leonel Castellani has done homages to another Jim Lee cover and Steve Ditko’s “Unmasked by Dr. Octopus!” cover from The Amazing Spider-Man #12. The more I see of these, the more my wallet hurts and I’m beginning to view September through a giddily dreadful delight. These covers will adorn Uncanny Avengers #12 and Mighty Avengers #1, respectively.

I need to call my comic shop.

Marvel Announces LEGO Variant Covers Coming In September

Hawkeye #15 LEGO Variant

IGN & Comic Book Resources are reporting that Marvel will be releasing LEGO variant covers on more than twenty different titles to promote the upcoming LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game.

LEGO artists Leo Castellani, Christopher Jones and Adam DeKracker are providing a series of variant covers for some of Marvel’s September-releasing titles recreating some classic covers from the past in iconic LEGO minifigure form.

“Working with the folks at The LEGO Group to do these homage covers is an absolute blast!” said David Gabriel, SVP of Sales, Print & Digital. “As soon as we came up with the concept of doing the covers, I couldn’t wait to get an idea off the ground that really does justice to both the Marvel heroes and the LEGO brand.”

The titles have a little bit for everyone, or a lot to rundown for the OCD in the group:

All-New X-Men #17
Avengers #21
Avengers A.I. #4
Captain America #12
Daredevil #31
Fantastic Four #13
Guardians Of The Galaxy #7
Hawkeye #15
Indestructible Hulk #14
Infinity #3
Iron Man #17
Marvel Universe: Avengers Assemble #1
Mighty Avengers #1
New Avengers #11
Nova #8
Secret Avengers #10
Superior Spider-Man #19
Thor: God Of Thunder #14
Uncanny Avengers #12
Wolverine & The X-Men #36
X-Men #5

I’m down for one at least. For now…
