LEGO Sends Press Release to AFOL Sites, Flying Pigs Sighted Over Frozen Hell

TRU Bricktober Promotions

In an unprecedented move, LEGO has sent over assets and information to FBTB and other AFOL sites regarding a store promotion involving LEGO.

Unprecedented!

Okay, enough of the cheekiness. You might have seen this thread already on our forums started by ufjason. It’s about Toys’R'Us’s month-long Bricktober promotion for the month of October. We’ve been given the above image and the press release below. There are also two in-store events scheduled for October 20th and 27th, the latter for a Monster Fighters themed build and giveaway just in time for Halloween.

TRU Events

Free LEGO Lord of the Rings Project Case, Buildable Batman, Captain America Shields

LEGO Lord of the Rings Project Case

Toys’R'Us seems to be the place to be this week. First up they are offering a free LEGO Lord of the Rings “Project case” with any LEGO construction set or board game purchase of $60 or more. You may be tempted to try and pick up some LOTR sets to go along with the case, but be warned that their markup is atrociously high, even by their standards. Case in point: the MSRP on 9472 Attack on Weathertop is $59.99 (Amazon); TRU’s asking price is $79.99, a full $20 more. If you’re not interested in trying to do math and figure out what sets to purchase to get the case for free, you may be able to just buy it outright for $13.99.

They are also offering a free Aragorn poster with any LEGO LOTR purchase, but the markup doesn’t make it worth it. A $20 markup for a $5 poster? I’ve seen better deals on fake bridges.

And finally, this Saturday June 16th from 2-4pm, Toys’R'Us stores are hosting a LEGO build event where you can build a Batman and/or a Captain America Superman shield and then take it home with you. Hopefully it will run much more smoothly this time around than it did for the Cars 2 build event. If anyone finds any pictures of what they might look like, please add it to the forum thread.

Update: forum member ufjason provided us with the following image:

I stand corrected: it’s Batman and Superman, and not Captain America like I originally thought. I have no idea where I got Captain America from. Maybe I saw the word “shield” and switched out Superman’s name since, you know, he doesn’t use a shield. Why couldn’t they use the “symbol” or “logo”? Anyways, thanks ufjason!

Batboat Polybag Available @ TRU

30160

Actually, I guess it’s a jetski. Which is silly, but it’s out there in the world as spotted on the TRU website and probably making its way into the wild as we speak. Keep your eyes peeled because this is sure to be the least expensive way to get a Batman figure or two and other than the classic blue and grey comics version, this Keaton-esque costume is probably the best suited for LEGO. Now, let’s see that awesome Batmobile poly hit the shelves!

[Toys R Us] New Marvel Sets Assemble for Pre-order + New Pics

Thanks to forum member Pro_Ice for pointing out the new LEGO Super Heroes Marvel Universe sets have appeared at Toys R Us for pre-order. They’ve listed an estimated ship date of April 10th, but given The Avengers is a tentpole film release you can bet these sets will be widely available on or around that date at most major retailers. But, if you’re that impatient, the “TRU Tax” doesn’t appear to be in full effect yet, with the larger sets still at MSRP, so for the time being TRU is just a good a place as any (and if you spend over $75 you’ll qualify for free shipping). Check out the forums for a run down of all the new pics (no high-res yet) and links to the sets.

6863 Batwing Battle over Gotham City Now Available

It’s with great hesitancy that I report this bit of sales news, but Toys’R'US online now has 6863 Batwing Battle over Gotham City available for shipping. It’s also labeled as available in stores as well, so you may get lucky there. The price? $39.99 for 278 pieces, which may or may not include TRU’s HPG (holiday price gouge). I suppose it’s great if you really want something new to put under the tree but the price is hard to swallow. I would rather wait to see what the actual MSRP is once LEGO puts the set on sale. Hopefully, it will be soon.

Super Heroes Shows Up At TRU

Toys’R'Us lists 6864 Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase on their website. It shows out of stock for shipping but is sold in stores so you may be able to get your hands on these sets before Christmas. It’s the only set to show up on their site. Price is $49.99 which may or may not include Toys’R'Us’ holiday price gouge. If you can find it in stores before Sunday, it should qualify for their BOGO 50% off sale. Happy hunting!

Thanks to Jason for writing it in.

Toys’R'Us BOGO 50% off on LEGO Star Wars, Harry Potter, Cars

ToysRUs.com is having a BOGO sale on all LEGO Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Cars sets that are in stock. Buyer beware: a lot of the sets have a slight markup over MSRP so your actual savings may be less than anticipated. Still, if you combine it with the $25 off purchases of $150 or more by using your MasterCard at checkout, you might be able to get some pretty nice savings. You’ll also get free shipping once your order reaches $49 or more. Deal is good online and as far as I can tell, is only good for Saturday November 26th. It is unknown at this time if the deal is also good in store. Not into Star Wars or Harry Potter or Cars LEGO sets? Fear not, for they will have a BOGO 50% off sale starting Sunday November 27 through December 3rd on all themes EXCEPT Star Wars, Ninjago, and video games.

Toys’R'Us is once again offering a BOGO 50% sale ahead of Black Friday. If you’re hoping to get some big ticket items, sadly a lot if not all of them are showing as out of stock. Some of the regular sized sets are still available though. If you’re hankering for something new, all but the largest set in the new Dino theme are in stock, as well as all of the new 2012 City and Ninjago lines so you should be able to find something to put under the tree. Sale goes on today through tomorrow.

Update 11/21: Fred Meyer and Walgreens have been added.
