Nintendo To Expand Character Licensing

I ran into this article over at Kotaku this morning. For those of who are unfamiliar with the situation, Nintendo recently announced their quarterly earnings and it was bad, really bad. So bad that the media blew a comment made by President Iwata about mobile devices way out of proportion leading some to speculate that Nintendo may be developing games for iOS. All of this lead up to the investor call that Nintendo had last night where Iwata outlined plans for their future. One tidbit in particular stood out to me.

LEGO Batman 2 Playable Demo on 3DS

Own a 3DS? Can’t wait for the next iteration of LEGO Batman? Nintendo has you covered with a downloadable demo of the game that was made available earlier this week during E3. Fans can check out a preview above or click through to IGN and then head over to the Nintendo eShop on your 3DS to begin the download. The LEGO Batman 2 game is schedule for release for Tuesday June 19.

The Legend Of Zelda Reaches 10,000 Votes On Cuusoo

Yet another licensed property has called on the support of its fan base to reach the 10,000 votes needed for LEGO Cuusoo to consider production in some shape or form. I’ll admit that Mingles has done a nice job with the pictures and given a lot of thought as to how an entire theme could be produced, though a single set not unlike the one he has shown would be more likely and at least give the fans a little taste of Link. The content is no more questionable than The Lord of the Rings, so there should be no problem there. The main hurdles this project may have would be the licensing (Nintendo already has dealings with K’nex) and whether or not the fan base is there to actually make money on another hard to find set.
