I’ve been attending New York Comic Con since 2009. This year was my first time as an exhibitor, which was a completely new experience. I am a member of I LUG NY, the New York tri-state area LEGO User Group. A few months ago, LEGO community relations manager Jim Foulds approached us with the opportunity to create a fan display for the convention. We were asked to have Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and Lord of the Rings represented. A LUG member each took charge of a theme, and we worked in teams over many weeks to build a display. We adopted the MILS standard of building to produce a modular display that could be rearranged depending on what area dimensions we had to fill. It worked out great, and we are all really proud of the result.

As I built it, I knew it was something special, and once it was complete, I thought I’d never take it apart. It deserved to stay together because those pieces came together into something that worked. 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle is a set that awakens those feelings of nostalgia and memories of a simpler, less cynical time. It’s a set that captures something that’s been missing from so many sets in recent years. (more…)

Marvel Super Heroes sets to land in April + New Minifigure Picture

This is a page from the latest Lego Club magazine and shows, for the first time, some final representations of the new Marvel Super Heroes minifigures.  Iron Man’s head still looks a little large but I’m loving Wolverine’s new hand pieces.

The best but also most confusing news is that they’re coming out in April and yet, I’m not sure we’ve seen any pictures of the sets?  Perhaps they’ll be revealed at the various Toy Fairs happening over the next few weeks.  Hopefully the London one, which I am attending!!  A report for FBTB will of course follow …
