So what is The Yoda Chronicles? It’s a TV show, an online experience, and a marketing gimmick all in one. And I’m going to try and break it down for you all in one post cause I myself need to get this straight in my head.

The latest installment of the unofficial LEGO Star Wars comedic animated series, The Empire Strikes Out comes out today on DVD format only. I received the above and below meme’s from their marketing department as promotional material. Not sure if they’re supposed to convince you to buy it or avoid it, so take’em for what they are.
Still haven’t ordered? Amazon still has it for $9.99 as of this writing. And don’t forget about Medal Ceremony Darth Vader. The only way to get him is through the DVD.
With the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Blu-ray/DVD tomorrow, and Target having their exclusive version that comes with an exclusive Bilbo Baggins minifigure, and with the announcement of the exclusive Special Forces Commander Clone Trooper minifigure included with The Yoda Chronicles book, I figured now would be as good of a time as any to make a checklist for all the exclusive minifigs that came with a book, video game, or Blu-ray/DVD release.
Just a friendly reminder that the follow-up to Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace, The Empire Strikes Out is being released across the pond in the UK tomorrow March 18. For us here in the colonies, the US release date is set for March 26th, Canada too. If you can get past continuity issues and you enjoyed Padawan Menace, you’ll like this one as well:
Your favorite characters are back to save the galaxy in LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out. The heroes of the Rebel Alliance including heroic Luke Skywalker, swaggering Han Solo and steadfast Princess Leia have no time to celebrate their victory over the Empire as a new Imperial threat arises. But as Jedi-in-training Luke embarks on this next mission, he discovers that his celebrity status as a “Death-Star-Blower-Upper” can be a double-edged lightsaber when he’s constantly mobbed by crazed fans. So much for secret missions! Meanwhile, Darth Vader and Darth Maul are locked in a hilarious “Sith-ling” rivalry as they compete for the Emperor’s approval. It’s an action-packed comic adventure that’s out of this world!
Unfortunately for Blu-ray collectors, there is no Blu-ray edition of the show, which is really, really odd. I mean, why not just release it on Laser Disc or Betamax to really push the annoyance factor up? But you do get a medal ceremony Darth Vader exclusive minifigure to make up for it.
Info for LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out’s DVD release has arrived and as expected it will include an exclusive figure from the cartoon, a new Darth Vader with his Award. I won’t go into what the medal is for because I’m guessing there are still some who haven’t seen it yet. Walmart already has it up for preorder at a whopping eight bucks, shipping on the 26th of March in the US. DarthBuilder has noted in the forum release dates of March 28th for the UK and April 3rd for France. Padawan Menace came out as a Blu Ray/DVD combo pack, but this seems to strictly be a DVD. I hate it when the packaging is inconsistent.

LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out will finally be airing in Canada on Friday November 9th, so check your local listings for the time in your area. How did I find this out, you may be asking yourself. Did I look up the schedule on Teletoon.com’s awesomely detailed, easily navigated website? Ha! Did I see an advertisement for this sure-to-be-a-hit-with-the-kiddies special running a million times a day on the station? Of course not. I saw a split second shot of a LEGO C-3PO in a spot for their current “Morevember” campaign and scoured my PVR for anything LEGO. That’s the type of journalistic dedication that comes from a parent desperately trying to find that special show that will be equally enjoyed by father and son while the broadcast station does everything in their power to make sure we miss it.
Don’t forget to set your DVR’s or reminder alerts. The newest LEGO Star Wars TV Special, The Empire Strikes Out, is set to debut tonight at 8pm local time on Cartoon Network here in the US.
