Looking for a deal on the latest LEGO Harry Potter video game? Well, if you pick the game up at Target when the game releases next Friday, November 11, you’ll get a $10 gift card to go along with that purchase. Unlike Amazon’s $10 credit which only applies to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Target’s offer will be valid on all platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS, DS, PSP, and PC).
The website Digital Spy has done a great little interview with Athur Parsons, the director of the upcoming LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 game. He talks about refreshing the gameplay, expanding the already large hub world, translating the dark tone of the final films into a fun filled adventure and why he thinks the LEGO brand games are such a success. For me the most interesting bit involved talk of side scrolling 2-D gameplay, but you’ll have to read it yourself to find out what that’s about. There’s less than a month until the game releases on November 15th and with the rumours of multiple LEGO games coming in the future right up until 2016, it sounds like TT Games is really trying to step it up.
There’s a brand spanking new trailer for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 out on the intertubes and I must say, the visuals look fantastic. I’m not a fan of Harry Potter by any means, not because I don’t like it, I just never got around to reading any of the books, but based on this trailer alone, the game looks worth picking up.
Maybe the books too.
Kotaku published a preview of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 earlier today detailing some of the new gameplay elements and features in the last LEGO Harry Potter video game. One notable quote:
Ron Weasley also gets a new skill, the ability to open joke boxes left around the game by his brothers. Inside players will find helpful tools, like an instant swamp, fireworks or a pair of shoes that allow him to walk up walls. If someone other than Ron tried to open a joke box they’ll get punched in the face with a giant boxing glove.
Punched in the face with a giant boxing glove. Awesome.
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 comes out on November 15, 2011, just in time for the holidays. Preorder your copy from Amazon today!
We’ll be reviewing the game once it’s out and will have a review done for Years 1-4 soon.

Flickr user Brandon (LegoBrandon) posted an image he took at his local Toys’R’Us store somewhere in the wilds of Canada. If you put down a $5 deposit, you’ll get a special LEGO Harry Potter Lab set. You can start placing preorders this Friday June 17, or so the sign says, but given that he was able to take the picture, I’d guess you can mosey on in and plunk down your money for it now.
No word yet if the U.S. will get a similar pre-order bonus. The game is scheduled for release on November 1, 2011 for all major platforms.
As a follow up to the successful LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Joystiq is reporting that Years 5-7 will be released in time for the holidays later this year. The game follows Harry and his mates through the final years at Hogwarts. It is slated to be released for all major consoles and handhelds, including Sony’s upcoming, badly-named NGP.
