[NYCC] New Characters Announced for LEGO Batman 3

Update: A promotional picture of the Arrow Pack DLC has been found by Ken. Picture below.

Warner Bros. Interactive announced a slew of new playable characters for the upcoming LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham game at their panel today at New York Comic Con. In addition to the previously announced characters of Geoff Johns and Kevin Smith, the expanded roster will include:

  • Darkest Knight
  • Solar Suit Superman (this raises so many questions I can’t even begin)
  • Man-bat
  • Condiment King
  • Green Loontern
  • Conan O’Brien
  • Detective Chimp
  • Mad Hatter
  • Dead Shot
  • Death Stroke
  • Polka Dot Man

There will also be a total of six DLC packs, up from the three we already knew about. Although the panel was light on specifics, they did reveal that the name of one of the packs was the Arrow Pack, no doubt for Green Arrow related content. If I was a betting man, I’d bet a whole dollar that another one of the packs is going to be the Flash Pack in keeping up with the TV theme going on there. Yep, a whole dollar. The first set of three DLC packs will be available upon launch day of the game, November 11th. No release date has been set for the second set of three. Don’t forget to pre-order the game from Gamestop to get an exclusive bonus of a Plastic Man minifigure.

Attendees to the panel also received the following t-shirt and poster:

Stephen Amell Gets To Lighten Up Green Arrow In LEGO Batman 3

If you’re a fan of CW’s Arrow, you know it’s a much more adult offering then Smallville was. This weeks premiere of The Flash, brought some of the fun back to the DC comics adaptions and so I watched it with my son last night and he’s excited for next week. Because of the darker tone and more violent content, Oliver Queen’s cameo in the Flash was the first time my son saw him and though he was exited, it’ll be some time until he sees any more of him. Apparently the actor who portrays televisions emerald archer has the same problem and having a young daughter is part of what prompted him to voice Green Arrow in LEGO Batman 3.

He’ll be at the panel for the game this weekend at NYCC along with TT Games developers Arthur Parsons & Stephen Sharples, Troy Baker, Geoff Johns and Kevin Smith. Those last two guys will be playable characters in the game as you can see below. Hopefully we’ll find out this weekend if any other surprises are in store, if not we get to find out in a month.

LEGO Batman 3 DLC Packs Revealed

Check out that mask! DLC packs have been revealed for LEGO Batman 3. The first three packs are The Dark Knight Pack, Man of Steel Pack, and Batman 75th Pack. The pack details are below:

The Dark Knight Pack
Experience the heart-pounding chase scene from the iconic film complete with cool vehicles and explosive action. Play as the legendary Dark Knight and Commissioner Gordon, as well as the Joker and his goons as they chase down Harvey Dent’s police escort. Bane and Catwoman from the third film are also playable.

Man of Steel Pack
Help Jor-El, his wife Lara and their robot Kelex send the infant Superman “Kal-el” into space towards the safety of Earth as Krypton falls into chaos. Find a way inside Jor-El’s home, fight General Zod’s invading forces and battle against Zod himself to save Superman.

Batman 75th Pack
Play as Joker and Harley, setting up a variety of celebration set pieces. Be the Batman and play as some of the most iconic faces of Batman through the years, including his first appearance in Detective Comics #27.

The three packs listed above will be available on launch day of the game, November 11th, with another three planned for a later date. Each pack has new characters, missions, and “customizations”, whatever that may be. Each pack is $2.99 with a Season Pass for all of the DLC costing $14.99, essentially netting you one for free. The DLC has been confirmed for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Unfortunately there has been no confirmation on availability for Wii U which is rather surprising given how well the game does on the family-friendly platform.

Pre-order the game from Gamestop to get an exclusive bonus of a Plastic Man minifigure.

Thanks to Tohst for the heads up.

LEGO Batman 3 Gets Release Date & Cover Art

Lego-Batman-3-Key-Art-896x1024

Warner Bros and TT Games have given the final release date for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham as November 11th in the US and November 14th worldwide. The 11th is a holiday in Canada, so it fits that it won’t be released until that Friday here. I look forward to that weekend and with any luck, I’ll get a chance to pick it up as soon as it drops. Don’t think I can wait until Christmas like I did last year with Marvel Super Heroes. They also released the final cover art for the game. I liked the previous promo art better…

New LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Game Trailer Features Braniac

DC Entertainment released a new trailer for their upcoming video game, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. In terms of gameplay, nothing new is shown but instead the trailer focuses more on revealing the cast of characters. I wish I was more of a DC guy growing up cause I have no idea who most of those people are.

The plot is similar to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes wherein both super heroes and super villains team up to take down a common enemy. Adam West plays the role of the character constantly in danger throughout the game, like how Stan Lee was in LMSH. There’s a proper term for that character but it escapes me at the moment.

The game is scheduled to be released this holiday season around November 28th. Pre-order your copy today from Gamestop to get the exclusive Plastic Man figure pictured below.

More LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Game Play Footage

Another trailer popped up for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. This one came about during the San Diego Comic Con and since I never made it to the LEGO Batman 3 panel I assume this was shown there.

This game is honestly looking to be really GREAT. On par with and maybe even better than LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

[SDCC] Behind The Scenes Of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

Ravenously waiting for the upcoming installment of LEGO Batman, well maybe this chat with the cast behind the game will quench that desire for a bit. You’ll watch it just for West though… and a great look at WW’s new invisible jet and a better classic Batmobile.

[SDCC] LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Gameplay Demo

Yesterday at the LEGO booth, Warner Bros. Interactive was demoing a part of the upcoming LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham video game. It looks to be pretty similar to the LEGO games before. The demo showed us the inside of the Batcave from the classic television series. Batman, Robin, and Alfred work together to construct the Batmobile. After that, the demo continues and showcases some of the unlockable, playable characters that are in the game. Like the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game before it, Beyond Gotham touts a roster of 150 characters for you to unlock. Adam West is the character in peril this time around like Stan Lee was for the Marvel game.

If you pre-order the game from Gamestop, you will get a LEGO Plastic Man as a bonus. The game comes out later this year for all current gaming systems including PS3 and Xbox 360, but not for Wii.
