Gamestop has updated their site for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes detailing their pre-order bonus, and it’s not as great as I was expecting. The pre-order bonus is a Spider-Man keychain. Yeah, I know. In case you weren’t aware, the keychain is available for purchase right now from LEGO Shop@Home. This is kind of good news and bad news depending on how you feel about chasing exclusives. The good news is that there won’t be another exclusive to chase down if you weren’t into the video game. The bad news is that this is a wasted opportunity to get an obscure character or a variant suit of a popular character. There is a tiny chance that the keychain could be of Black Suit Spider-Man, or another varient paint job, but if that were the case, why make it a keychain? Unfortunately, there’s no picture yet to verify the suit color. Promotional exclusives have more often than not been a channel to put figures out there that would not normally fit into a regular set. Considering the roster of the previous pre-order game bonuses (Power Suit Lex Luthor, Elrond, Voodoo Doll Jack Sparrow, and Chase McCain), this Spider-Man keychain is pretty much a pre-order cancel button.

Continuing with their minifigure-styled clocks, LEGO introduces a new character in the line up: Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s available for pre-order over at Firebox. According to this Eurobricks post, Amazon.ca lists a Barbossa clock as well, but no pictures of said item are on the site.
On a side note, I saw the Ninjago minifigure clock at K-mart the other day, flaming sword accessory and all. Amazon lists him for $24.99.
Did you miss out on the special Voodoo Doll Jack Sparrow minifigure that was offered as a preorder bonus for the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean video game? Well Amazon is offering the figure for $2.99, no video game purchase required. It seems that you can only order 1 figure at a time, and if you’re not a Prime member shipping starts at $4.98 for the figure alone. Unless, of course, you add $22.01 more in merch to bring your cart total over the magical threshold of $25.
Gotta catch’em all? If it’s one thing LEGO knows about it’s customer base, it’s that they go nuts for minifigs. And as if including a different version of Jack Sparrow in every upcoming LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean set wasn’t enough, they’ve tilted their unscrupulous meter another notch by offering an exclusive version of Jack as a pre-order bonus of the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean video game through Gamestop. The game will be available for every major platform including the Nintendo 3DS on May 10, 2011.
