[SDCC] Another LEGO Comic Con Exclusive Minifig Revealed: The Hobbit’s Bard the Bowman

The LEGO Group continues to spread its San Diego Comic Con exclusive news around as this time it’s The Hollywood Reporter getting the scoop on the next Comic Con reveal. Bard the Bowman from The Hobbit franchise is the second of four exclusive minifigs to be given away. As for the other two, the article has this tidbit:

Among the other minifigs at the Con will be the Collector, a character from the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, a DC fig and one from The Lego Movie.

We’ve already known about The Collector. The DC fig is most likely a way to promote the upcoming LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham game. Either that or it’ll be a TV series Batman figure to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the character. The LEGO Movie figure is a surprise though and it could actually mean the wrist action Unikitty revealed yesterday is the exclusive. We’ll see if any more news is revealed.

Also of note in the article is the following:

This year, to avoid chaos, the company has a system wherein an attendee’s badge is scanned to determine a “winner” in a lottery-style giveaway.

What a relief.

The Warner Bros. booth will also feature the gigantic Smaug statue pictured above. The statue was designed and built by Erik Varszegi, weighs over 411 lbs and features 83,433 pieces.

The Lone Rangers Videos Explode Onto Youtube

The last of the set videos to included Erik Varszegi’s demonstations cover the new Lone Ranger theme. When I first saw these sets I was underwhelmed to say the least, but after seeing them in person with Erik’s demos I’ve changed my tune. These are the rootin’-est, tootin’-est, explodin’-est, horse on a hot train roof sets I’ve seen and I want them all. On the same note, based on all the great play features and the thought of all these wild west explosions on screen, I have even less interest in seeing the film. Watch the videos and see for yourself.

Hi-yo, Silver! Away!

Legend Of Chima Videos Roar To Life

Well, more of a wimper than a roar really as my time with Erik was unfortunately short and by the time we got to Chima, I was being scooted out of the booth. I did get this quick vid of 70010 The Lion Chi Temple and a closer look at the 50006 LEGO Legends Of Chima. I’ll bet the Lion Temple will be popular with the kiddies and I’m sure folks will we disappointed that there’s no video of the Gorilla Mech. I know I am…

Erik Varszegi’s demonstration videos for the four new Lord Of The Rings sets are ready to view on the FBTB Youtube channel, so take a look and let us know what you think. This may be the last of the video posts tonight, but Lone Ranger and a few strays will be forthcoming.

Star Wars LEGO Toy Fair Videos Are Live

The exclusive demonstration videos of the new Star Wars sets at the New York Toy Fair are now uploaded and ready to view over on FBTB’s Youtube channel. The demonstrations were graciously provided by Erik Varszegi and include a closer look at each set on the tail end of the videos. This process is quite time consuming, but I’ll do my best to get the rest out asap. Asap is starting to feel further and further away though. *Yawns*

10 Foot LEGO Lord Vampyre Is Raised In New Orleans

You’re in The Big Easy for the weekend. You’re caffinated, want to stay up all night and have some fun, so what are you gonna do? Build a 10 foot tall LEGO Lord Vampyre of course, what else could you do?. As Ace posted before the event this past weekend, this massive Monster Fighters themed statue was assembled by Master Model Builder Erik Varszegi with the help of the events attendees.

The 150,000 piece model will be dismantled and shipped to LEGOLAND California for their Halloween activities, which I’m sure will delight the children there and after that he’ll no doubt disappear back into the night. Anyone else wish LEGO had made those new bat arms in the black and red printing?

Life-sized LEGO Jack Sparrow Model – Updated

The excitement for Toy Fair is palpable as the event draws near. And as customary with the event, LEGO prepared the above sculpture, built by Erik Varszegi, to debut alongside Pirates of the Caribbean sets. Kind of a big tease since the photo’s small, but I’ll be sure to get some better pics.
