This past weekend, The Skirball Cultural Center hosted a LEGO event simply called LEGO Day and LUGOLA was invited to participate! Warner Bros. sent over a care package full of Movie-related goodies for the attendees and included in the lot were a handful of the promotional tins that given away to Willy Wonka-style Golden Ticket holders. They also gave away some bare bones Movie Collectible Minifigs but what they lacked in accessories they made up for with minifig stands printed with the movie logo. Nice! Now to just get my hands on 16 of them….
Forum member Gooker1 emailed me today these set of pictures showing promotional megafigures for The LEGO Movie found at his local AMC theaters. I’m sure everyone’s drooling over Batman, but I’d take that Wyldstyle in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, they will eventually go back to the studio. What happens to them after that will be a mystery. I’m sure though that they will end up in the hands of a lucky duck or two.
USA Today posted an in-depth article on The LEGO Movie. The article has a slideshow component that breaks down most of the major characters in the movie, who voices them, and their individual motivations. Not many details are given away in terms of plot line, but we do learn that Will Ferrel’s character, President Business, has an alter ego, Lord Business, who is trying to control the world. Master Builders Wyldstyle, voiced by Elizabeth Banks, and Vitruvius, voiced by Morgan Freeman, believe that a very normal construction worker, Emmet, voiced by Chris Pratt, is “The Special”, the key to saving the world from Lord Business.
The LEGO Movie opens in theaters on February 7, 2014.
Thanks to ninnymuggins for the heads up.
