Gamestop has updated their site for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes detailing their pre-order bonus, and it’s not as great as I was expecting. The pre-order bonus is a Spider-Man keychain. Yeah, I know. In case you weren’t aware, the keychain is available for purchase right now from LEGO Shop@Home. This is kind of good news and bad news depending on how you feel about chasing exclusives. The good news is that there won’t be another exclusive to chase down if you weren’t into the video game. The bad news is that this is a wasted opportunity to get an obscure character or a variant suit of a popular character. There is a tiny chance that the keychain could be of Black Suit Spider-Man, or another varient paint job, but if that were the case, why make it a keychain? Unfortunately, there’s no picture yet to verify the suit color. Promotional exclusives have more often than not been a channel to put figures out there that would not normally fit into a regular set. Considering the roster of the previous pre-order game bonuses (Power Suit Lex Luthor, Elrond, Voodoo Doll Jack Sparrow, and Chase McCain), this Spider-Man keychain is pretty much a pre-order cancel button.

TRU Canada has a few nice LEGO deals this week and the first is the exclusive Elrond figure with any non-WiiU game purchase and on top of that, those games are all BOGO 50% off. With the only exception being WiiU games, you won’t be able to buy LEGO City Undercover on the 20th and get both the free Chase McCain figure included with the game and Elrond. However, if you avoided buying the LEGO Lord of the Rings videogame when it first came out in anticipation of a sale, now would be a good time since the price has dropped.
They are also offering a free 30213 Gandalf at Dol Guldur polybag with a $30 purchase of Hobbit or LotR LEGO, excluding clearance and The Hobbit boardgame. That boardgame, along with all the other LEGO boardgames, is on for 30% off and they’ve got Ninjago, Monster Fighters and Technic discounted by 20% as well.
Oh, and if you do pick up any fancy new figs, they have their licensed accessories on for 25% off if you need another minifig display case. Quantities are limited and these deals end on the 21st so skedaddle.
Do you remember that part in the Lord of the Rings movie, the Fellowship one, where Frodo, Samwise, Pippin and Merry were led to the top of Weathertop? And they set up camp? And do you remember when Aragorn left them to go scouting? And do you also remember the part where there was that crow that kept flying around and kept dropping turds on them nearly killing them? Wait, you don’t? It’s in the video game, so it must have happened in the movie. Right? I’ll tell ya, I don’t think any game play footage from any game made me not want to play it faster than the one embedded above. Heaven forbid should a character be idle for more than a second before being rained on by crow turds that’ll kill you. If I were planning on picking up this game, I’d study the above sequence so that I can turbo through it.
The game’s release date has been pushed back to November 13th. You can pre-order from Amazon and get a free $10 voucher good towards the purchase of a game. You’ll also get bonus “Middle Earth characters” for PS3 and Xbox versions. I have no idea what that means but that’s what they’re throwing in. Or, you could pre-order from Gamestop and get an exclusive minifig of Elrond.
No I’m not done talking yet and I obviously don’t know how to space things out.
This poster popped up on TheHDRoom promoting the upcoming LEGO Lord of the Rings video game. I assume there’s a “Beasts and Heroes” equivalent poster floating around out there somewhere but heck if I know for sure. LEGO doesn’t tell me these things.
The page on TheHDRoom also has a promotional “Developer Diaries” video where TTGames sits down and talks about, I’m guessing, developing the game. I’ve embedded it below for your convenience:
Those of you who were waiting patiently to pre-order the latest Traveller’s Tale game, LEGO Lord of the Rings, in hopes of getting the Elrond minifigure as a pre-order bonus can now rest easy. Gamestop has finally put up the bonus on their pre-order pages for each console’s version of the game. The game is set to release on October 30th for all major consoles including the PC. Gamestop offers delivery by release date if you choose overnight shipping. You can also order online and pick up in store.
Warner Bros. Interactive and Traveler’s Tales have released a new trailer for their upcoming LEGO Lord of the Rings video game ahead of Gamescom happening this week from August 15-19 in the Republic of Korea. From everything I’ve read and seen, the gameplay makes a departure from their usual hub-centric style to a more linear approach following the events of the film.
The game is set for release on October 30, 2012. You can pre-order the game from Amazon or Gamestop. No word yet on the Elrond minifig for US customers, but my bet’s on Gamestop getting the exclusive.
Will over at Lord of the Bricks discovered this on Amazon.de. No word on if other outlets will have exclusives as well, but if this figure is only available through Amazon then it will be next to impossible to sweet talk someone into giving/selling you one. We’ll update when or if this offer will be available elsewhere.
