Tomorrow, May the 4th, is the unofficial Star Wars holiday and also the day that 10240 Red Five X-wing Starfighter goes on sale. We’ve been highlighting this set since May 1 offering our in-depth reviews and analyses. Without out a doubt, this is a fine set and there are few other early reviews out there in the wild if you still haven’t made up your mind.

It’s a nice deal on a set that some may have missed and I felt it was a solid set in a theme I’d love to see more from. I think it’s great that Jason is sharing these deals with the Brickset community, so thanks to Jason & Huw!
The LEGO Ferrari Shell promotion that launched in Hong Kong a few weeks ago has now made it’s way to Singapore Shell stations. Spend $50 on Shell gas, and you qualify to buy a set for just $5.95. No word yet on when this promotion will hit stateside, but you can bet I’ll report on it when it does.

Huw over at Brickset got a tip about some new promotional sets from Shell and Ferrari. He did all the virtual leg work and has put all the details up for anyone interested, so I’d suggest you check it out. The basic breakdown is these six vehicles will be available at Hong Kong Shell stations for a couple of bucks ($20 HKD) when you buy $50 in gas ($400 HKD) and they should be available worldwide at some time. There’s even a seventh set that should be available once the first six have been obtained. I’d expect a similar deal to get them when they are available and I suspect these will be popular with many collectors and tiny turbo fans. We’ll keep an eye on this and try to keep you updated as these become available in other regions.
Huw Millington over at Brickset.com is hosting a nice little giveaway. I won’t go into details here, but if you’d like to win the two SDCC exclusives above click the picture and follow the trail of breadcrumbs. The aim of this is to raise awareness for the LEGO Super Heroes Challenge building contest so I figured I’d include the link in that spirit. Otherwise, I want to win so you’ll get nothing more from me
Thanks to Dutch toy shop Brickshop.nl and Brickset for breaking the news, we now have a glimpse of LEGO’s UCS/Shop@Home exclusives for 2012. And the list is with the most interesting parts highlighted:
- 10223 Kingdoms Joust
- 10224 Town Hall
- 10225 R2-D2
- 10226 Sopwith Camel
- 10227 B-Wing
The B-wing set excites me the most as it is one of my favorite ships from the OT. I can only assume that it would be either proper minifig scale ship or heaven help me a UCS ship. If the latter, then I’ll squeal like a little girl. I cannot wait to see it given the UCS treatment. As far as R2-D2, pure speculation on my part but it could look like this:
The above image was the model displayed in Target stores many years back as a promotional gimmick. You had to guess the number of bricks used to win the model. I could also imagine a Power Functions type of model with special sound bricks, remote control, and motors galore.
Thanks to JamesBenjamin for reposting the list on our forums.
It should be noted that Brickshop.nl took down their pages. Brickset also has complied with LEGO’s request, but given this day and age of information, the internet, and the speed in which it can be disseminated, do they honestly think they can put the toothpaste back in the tube? We’ll see if any such takedown notices come my way, in the meantime, share your thoughts in our existing thread.
