Bothcon: Special M-wing Door Prize

White M-Wing

Last M-wing post for today, I promise.

As part of our plans for Bothcon, we assembled a very special M-wing kit that had a nearly-all white M-wing. Only the Technic pins and printed tiles were in their original colors. We even created a white Bothcon minifig Ace pilot. We instructed the attendees to not open their kits or trade their bags until the very end. Forum member Datoth (Jason Daubert) was the lucky winner. His door prize package consisted of Chrome C-3PO, Chrome Stormtrooper (polybag), Chrome Darth Vader, White Boba Fett, San Diego Comic Con CubeDude set, and the Star Wars Celebration V CubeDude set.

Thanks to Datoth for providing pictures that I was shortsighted to take.

Bothcon Shirts Hot Off The Presses

Bothcon Shirt Front
Shirt Front

Just picked up the Bothcon shirts today and they look fantastic. Screenprinted on Navy blue American Apparel tees, the Greg Hyland art just pops off the fabric. And the printer did an awesome job preserving all the colors, shading, and gradients of the source material. Above, the front of the shirt, and the back of the shirt is below. Bothcon attendee shirts are exactly like the ones you see; shirts used for contest prizes and ones for sale won’t say Bothcon2011 on them.

BOTHCON Sneak Peek: Exclusive Minifig!

Legoland California’s Star Wars Weekend and our very own special FBTB event BOTHCON will be here in just a few short days! The swag bags are nearly complete and we still have some surprises!

BOTHCON Sneak Peek: Exclusive Minifig

You know those special M-Wing kits included in the bags? Well, they need pilots, don’t they?

Any resemblance to a certain site admin is purely coincidental.

Purely.

Coincidental.

M-wing Kit Label

Label_nolink

In the midst of assembling the goody bags for Bothcon 2011 held at LEGOLAND CA in Carlsbad, CA on June 18 at 11:00am, I thought I’d share the label we made for Jon Palmer’s M-wing Starfighter kit. Big thanks to Don for the work.

BOTHCON Update!

Bothcon Art by Greg Hyland

I’m here with a few updates to our BOTHCON2011 plans. First up, REMINDER: if you’re participating in the Fan Display to start mailing those MOCs in. I sent a private message on the forums to everyone who’s responded in this thread with instructions. The sooner we get your models the better chance it has on making it onto a display table. We have a deadline to send LEGOLAND info on how much space we need so the sooner I have those numbers the better.

Next: the goody bag. As reported before, you’ll get:

  • A reusable LEGO Star Wars vinyl tote bag.
  • A Jon Palmer M-wing Starfighter Kit.
  • A Bothcon 2011 T-shirt with artwork by Greg Hyland (pictured above). These are high-quality, screen printed, American Apparel t-shirts.

Now for the new stuff:

  • A commemorative BOTHCON2011 Minifig pilot for your M-wing.
  • 1 copy of 30054 MINI AT-ST
  • A (practically vintage) 2005 LEGOLAND CA Star Wars Weekend DUPLO Brick.

Each bag will also randomly contain one of the following:

  • 3219 MINI TIE Fighter
  • OR
  • 30050 MINI Republic Attack Shuttle
  • OR
  • 30051 MINI X-wing Fighter

Pretty epic bag if you ask me. Now for the other bit of news. We have 13 registered members so far and the cap was at 20 registered members. We are lowering the cap to 15 members, that leaves 2 slots open. We are also cutting off registrations soon. The deadline to register is 11:59pm Saturday May 28. It’s $25 (in addition to the cost of getting into the park). All the information you need is in this thread.

Questions? Post in any of the Bothcon threads in our Community forum: Fan Display or Minicon

BOTHCON 2011: Fan Display

BOTHCON2011

Star Wars Days is right around the corner (June 18 and 19) and we’ve been busy making plans on our second mini-convention: Bothcon 2011 (pronounced [bawth-kon]). There are two ways you can be involved with the festivities whether you are planning on visiting LEGOLAND that weekend or not.

Let’s Talk: FBTB Star Wars Days Event

At BrickCon in 2008 FBTB held its first event, a small gathering of members and friends we called BothCon.

In 2011, we’re planning something bigger in correlation with Legoland California Resort’s Star Wars Days on June 18-19th. But we need your help brainstorming and providing feedback if we’re going to pull off a successful FBTB mini-convention.

We’re conducting a poll to gauge interest in and potential attendance for this special event. Your vote and feedback will help us determine if this idea has legs, or it’s destined for the Death Star trash compactor.

Head to the forum here to vote in the poll, and join in the discussion about activities, locations, pros, cons, and everything in between.
