Earlier tonight I attended the the one-night-only An Unexpected Art Show with my family. The Tower of Orthanc was there in all its imposing glory. But that wasn’t all. The members of OneLUG debuted new art pieces at the show, a series of three builds depicting different symbols from the Lord of the Rings. In order from left to right in the picture above: The White Tree of Gondor by Brandon Griffith, The Horse of Rohan by Remi Gagné, and The White Hand of Saruman by Bruce Lowell.

It’s Friday night and if I know anything about LEGO nerds or family men, it’s that we have no plans tonight! That is unless you’ve already bought your tickets to tonight’s An Unexpected Art Show going on at Lot 613 at 613 Imperial Street, a blank-canvas special events space in the Historic Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. The show is one night only, tonight, and runs from 7pm to 1am. You’ll get to meet members of OneLUG who created the 7′ Tower of Orthanc featuring 23 Ents, over 100 orcs all on an 8′ diameter base surrounding the imposing Tower. This will most likely be the last time the Tower will be shown publicly and it’s really something that should be seen in person to fully appreciate. Oh, yeah, there’s an art show too or something. Tickets will be $20 at the door, or you can print out this flyer and get in for $10.
Tickets for the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit inspired Unexpected Art Show are now on sale. This one-day event is sponsored by TheOneRing.net and will be held on Friday, February 22, from 7 PM to 1 AM. If you’re interested in displaying or selling your artwork at the event, they are still accepting submissions until February 1, 2013. Details on participation can be found here.
TheOneRing.net put out a call for entries for their upcoming art show, An Unexpected Art Show. The one-day event will be held at Lot 613 located at 613 Imperial Street, Los Angeles, CA and is set for February 22, 2013 from 7pm to 1am, and entries will be accepted until February 1, 2013. Fans and artists of all ages are encouraged to attend and participate. Tickets to attend the show are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
