Amazon Discounts Super Heroes Sets

76000 Arctic Batman vs. Mr Freeze: Aquaman on Ice

Amazon is discounting a bunch of DC and Marvel Super Heroes sets ranging fom 25-35% off or more! Now’s the time for people like me who procrastinated on picking these up to stock up before they’re discontinued for good. If you haven’t picked up the Arctic Batman set yet, or if you did and you got the typo version, the ones that are shipping out now should be the ones with the corrected set name, “Arctic” instead of “Artic”.

Reminder: Toys’R’Us LEGO Building Event – Joker Mini Mech Bot

TRU Event

Just a quick reminder that at Toys’R’Us stores are hosting a LEGO DC Super Heroes building event today, Saturday, from 12noon – 2pm. You get to build the pilot-less mech you see there. It’s unknown if a Joker minifig will also be given away to complete the look, but you could always bring your own Joker for giggles. Just don’t lose it. This event is free but limited to supplies on hand. I would advise getting there earlier rather than later. Hit up the store locator to find a location near you.

That free polybag offer we posted last time still seems to be valid. If you spend $20 or more on DC Super Heroes, you’ll get Robin and the Redbird Cycle, Iron Man Drone Attack something or other if you opt Marvel Super Heroes. Either way you’re screwed since you’ll be paying TRU tax. They’ll do a price match against their own website if the prices seem out of whack or if you bring in a printed ad from a competitor. But you know what is super annoying? The fact that you have to spend $20 or more, not $19, or $19.99 which is the actual MSRP that other stores will charge. You don’t have that extra penny in the sale? No polybag for you! Anyways, I digress…

Looking at the current selection, I think you’re best bet to get the Robin polybag is to either get two copies of 76000 Artic Batman vs. Mr. Freeze: Aquaman on Ice since it is actually a dollar less than MSRP at $18.99. OR, get 76001 The Bat vs. Bane: Tumbler Chase, since it is only $7.00 above MSRP at $46.99. You can think of the $7 bucks extra as the cost of the polybag. All the other sets have an outrageous markup, and I mean outrageous.

I’m too tired to get into what Marvel sets you could get but you’ll probably have better luck finding a reasonably priced set since they offer a few more at the $20 MSRP range. Besides, it’s an older polybag that was available previously through LEGO Shop@Home and Brand Retail.

There’s a couple of things you can try. You could try and get them to price match LEGO Shop@Home prices. Or, if you haven’t bought the LEGO Batman 2 game yet, see if the offer is valid on video games or accessories. If so, see if you can pick up a LEGO Batman video game or LEGO Batman DS accessory pack to pad your total. Or, and this is outrageous, see if they’ll just let you buy the darn thing. That’s what I’m going to try. We’ll see if I’m successful. Good luck to you!

More Massive Discounts: LEGO Super Heroes 20% Off (at least)

Both Amazon and Target put some hefty discounts on LEGO Super Heroes sets. Target’s prices on some sets were already reduced, and they’ve applied a 20% discount on top. Amazon has matched the reduced price, but bear in mind that if the item is out of stock online at Target, Amazon’s price usually resets itself. Also, you can go to a Target store and get the same prices in store as online.

Some notable items:

76000 Aquaman On Ice Discounted

Target is having a summer toy sale including some LEGO items. One set in particular that stands out is 76000 Arctic Batman vs. Mr. Freeze: Aquaman on Ice. The set is seeing a discount of 20% to an even $16.00, down from $19.99, plus tax with free delivery on that item. I’ve been eyeing this set for some time now, waiting for a nice sale price to pick one up and this may be the time. Got a REDCard? Save an additional 5% off the price sale price. Amazon has not matched the price yet, but if you live in a state where they charge tax and you have a REDCard, Target will end up being the better choice anyway. For those of you lucky enough to live in a state where Amazon doesn’t charge tax, they will more than likely match Target’s price; it’s just a matter of time.

Amazon Sells 76005 Daily Bugle Showdown

In addition to having 76000 Arctic Batman vs Mr Freeze: Aquaman on Ice and 76004 Spider-Man: Spider-Cycle Chase (although now that I double check, the former seems to be sold out at the moment), Amazon is now stocking 76005 Daily Bugle Showdown for immediate shipment. Price is $49.99. Order today and you’ll still get free shipping in time for Christmas.

Some 2013 Super Heroes Sets In Stock at Amazon

Amazon is continuing to slowly receive stock of 2013 sets as evidenced by the news reports from the past few days. Today’s news hits the last major licensed theme to make an appearance: LEGO Super Heroes. Pictured above is 76004 Spider-Man: Spider-Cycle Chase which includes Spidey, Venom, Nick Fury, and a sweet looking hover car. Price is $19.99. The other set they have is 76000 Arctic Batman vs Mr Freeze: Aquaman on Ice, which sounds more like an ice dancing show than a playset. Price for this set is also $19.99. Order both to get your order past the free shipping threshold of $25.

Thanks go to Drock for this one.
