Ochre Jelly Releases The KR-KN!

Welcome to Iain Heath’s solution to the problem of the big, bley, boring SSD. The Rebel Alliance’s mind controlled Space Kraken is a fun and whimsical concept, but if you think this destroyer destroyer is too over the top for Star Wars…. no seriously have you seen the Clone Wars? Based on that, my experiences with the old Marvel comics and other EU stuff, yeah this could totally happen and should. Head over to the Jelly Flickr page and read the full story. I wonder if Disney is taking script submissions.

Many Ewoks were harmed in the making of this super weapon.

Amazon Discounts Some Stuff

Don’t like the new stuff? Still need to catch up? Looking for the old stuff on discount? Well this post is for you as Amazon has put some of the current wave of sets as well as some long-in-the-tooth exclusives on the discount rack. I’m kind of not surprised at the discounts we’re seeing for some of the current sets. With all the new themes and sets coming in, they’ve gotta make room somehow. Today, we’re seeing a few discounts that are worth mentioning, assuming, of course, that you didn’t break the bank/max out the credit cards/incite the wrath of your significant other already.

Amazon Discounts Retiring 10221 Imperial Shuttle

In addition to Amazon lowering it’s price on 10221 Super Star Destroyer, they’ve also discounted 10212 Imperial Shuttle as well. It is on sale for $209.99, a nearly 20% discount off of MSRP. The last time we mentioned the Shuttle, it was listed on LEGO Shop@Home’s ‘Retiring Soon’ page noting its imminent discontinuation. This might be the best price you see on this set from here on out.

Also, 10197 Fire Brigade is discounted 20% down to $119.99.

Walmart Discounts 10221 Super Star Destroyer by 22%

Update: Amazon has now price matched Walmart at $309.99.

Amazon currently has this set discounted 20% and it’s been like that for awhile now. But maybe that was still too high. Maybe your threshold is 22% to buy and 20% to not buy. If that’s the case, Walmart has a deal for you. They’ve beaten Amazon’s price by another $10. It’s sitting pretty at $309.99 with free shipping. If you live in a state where Amazon charges sales tax, you could be saving a few more bucks with the Walmart deal.

I wonder if seeing such consistent discounts on this set is indicative of it’s popularity. This makes a great display piece despite the awkwardness associated with how to display the minifigs that comes with it.

Target Sells 10221 Super Star Destroyer For $256

Update: It seems Target wizened up to their own follies. The base price is reset back up to $399.99, netting the promotional discount a savings of $80, bringing it down to $319.99. Were you able to score one and see your order get processed at the $256 price? Let us know in the forum thread.

Target.com is losing their minds. They are already offering 10221 Super Stary Destroyer with a 20% discount, down to $319.99. It qualifies for their current “spend $50 save 20%” promotion. Add it to your cart and you’ll get an extra 20% off of that price bringing your total down to $255.99 at checkout. There is also free shipping on this item. Got a Red Card? Get an additional 5% off of the total price. And it looks like there is a quantity limit of three per order. Tax applies obviously but still! $256! That’s a savings of 36%!

Amazon Discounts 10221 Super Star Destroyer Once Again

In a rare move, Amazon has discounted 10221 Super Star Destroyer by 20% without price matching another etailer (I’ve checked Target, Walmart, BN, and TRU). It’s sitting pretty at $319.99. I imagine this might be one of the last chances to get this set on discount in time for the holidays if you want to make someone’s Christmas morning a day to remember.

Target Discounts 10221 Super Star Destroyer by 20%

Target.com is a little late to the discount party, but that just means another opportunity for you to pick up something cheap. They currently have 10221 Super Star Destroyer for 20% off. Got a Target Red Card? You can get an additional 5% off of that. Item ships for free. And as usual, I expect Amazon to follow their lead.

You know with the number of times this set’s gone on sale the past few weeks, I almost feel like 20% isn’t even worth a look now. Make it 30%, and now you got something.

Toys’R’Us Includes UCS Sets for BOGO 50%

Toys’R’Us finally included the big UCS sets in their Buy One Get One 50% off LEGO deal this week, and by big UCS sets, I mean 10188 Death Star, 10221 Super Star Destroyer, 10212 Imperial Shuttle, and 10225 R2-D2. 10225 R2-D2 is seeing a slight markup, $20 over MSRP. The other three are right at MSRP so you could see a potential savings of 25% if you pair two items of the same price.

Alternatively, if you live in a state where Amazon doesn’t charge sales tax, you should know that you might see a better deal buying 10221 Super Star Destroyer from there since it’s still priced at $319.99, a 20% discount. 10212 Imperial Shuttle is seeing a 19% discount, $50 off MSRP to ring up at $209.99. And 10225 R2D2? It’s seeing a 22% discount down to $139.97. 10188 Death Star? Still full price but that may change any day now.

Amazon Discounts 10221 Super Star Destroyer

Amazon has heavily discounted 10221 Super Star Destroyer. It is only $319.97, down 20% from $399.99. If this isn’t a Cyber Monday deal, then I don’t know what is.

Thanks to bacon1986 for the tip.

Browsing through the Walmart.com inventory, they have a number of large discounts on the larger Star Wars sets, as well as various other $100+ items. Here are some notable deals:

>>10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper and 10219 Maersk Train are $99-100 (MSRP $119.99)

All of these qualify for $.99 Shipping or free Site-To-Store Shipping, though I’ve heard some troubling stories about Walmart’s shipping quality. Amazon.com has already price-matched some of these like 10231 Shuttle Expedition, 10224 Town Hall, and 10225 R2-D2, and they also qualify for Free Super Saver Shipping.
