Amazon Discounts 10197 Fire Brigade Once Again

10197_91EYE1YlKQL

If you missed out on this deal around the holidays two months ago, you might be interested to know that Amazon has once again discounted 10197 Fire Brigade by 21%. It is now priced at $119, down from MSRP of $149. Free shipping and no tax to most states make this an awesome deal, though I hear that list of “no tax to most states” is shrinking. Anyways, I digress…

Amazon Discounts Some Stuff

Don’t like the new stuff? Still need to catch up? Looking for the old stuff on discount? Well this post is for you as Amazon has put some of the current wave of sets as well as some long-in-the-tooth exclusives on the discount rack. I’m kind of not surprised at the discounts we’re seeing for some of the current sets. With all the new themes and sets coming in, they’ve gotta make room somehow. Today, we’re seeing a few discounts that are worth mentioning, assuming, of course, that you didn’t break the bank/max out the credit cards/incite the wrath of your significant other already.

Amazon Discounts Retiring 10221 Imperial Shuttle

In addition to Amazon lowering it’s price on 10221 Super Star Destroyer, they’ve also discounted 10212 Imperial Shuttle as well. It is on sale for $209.99, a nearly 20% discount off of MSRP. The last time we mentioned the Shuttle, it was listed on LEGO Shop@Home’s ‘Retiring Soon’ page noting its imminent discontinuation. This might be the best price you see on this set from here on out.

Also, 10197 Fire Brigade is discounted 20% down to $119.99.

Official Announcement: 10230 Mini Modulars

10230 Mini Modulars - back 001

Well this is a surprise. Making their official debut at LEGO Fan Weekend in Denmark today, LEGO officially unveils their next exclusive: 10230 Mini Modulars. This is a VIP member exclusive, meaning you have to be a VIP member in order to purchase this set. 10230 Mini Modulars takes the first 5 models from the modular building series and shrinks them down to mini dimensions: Cafe Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer, Fire Brigade, and Grand Emporium. Probably the only way I’d ever buy a Market Street but I digress. I can only assume that there will be future iterations of Mini Modulars to include all the other buildings the series will see. Most notably absent is the more recent release of 10218 Pet Shop. The set may not look like it but will contain 1,356 pieces. Pricing data is as follows: US $79.99, CAN $99.99, DE 69.99 €, UK 59.99 £, DK 649 DKK, and AU $119.99. And finally, you can expect to hand over your money in January 2012 for the set. More pictures below, followed by their video, and finally the official press release:

More Amazon Deals – Update

Update: The 10198 Tantive IV is down to $139 again, but who knows for how long. Thanks, ufjason, for the tip.

Some noteworthy deals on Amazon:

Their BOGO 50% page is still up and running, and prices continue to drop on some items, such as:

Not on BOGO but the following items are seeing a pretty nice discount:

  • 7596 Trash Compactor Escape is down to $39.97, MSRP $49.99. The Toy Story line is discontinued so it would behoove you not to procrastinate any longer on picking up this set (as well as the Western Train set mentioned above).
  • And finally, 8097 Slave I is marked down to $64, MSRP $79.99.

Amazon’s BOGO 50% Sale

That programming snafu yesterday regarding the 25% off LEGO sale was a bit annoying, but it seems that the sale has now turned into a BOGO 50% off sale. You can hit up this page on Amazon to see all the sets that qualify. It looks like they still have 10198 Tantive IV and 10197 Fire Brigade in stock. Though the modest 7% discount is gone, saving 25% by ordering both is still a great deal. Free shipping and no tax to most states makes this an awesome deal.

Amazon’s 25% Off Sale, Maybe

According to this special sale page on Amazon, you can save an additional 25% off select LEGO sets. The instructions say to just add qualifying items to your cart and the discount will be reflected at checkout. Well, all I can say is that the instructions LIE. Well, maybe they do. I got all the way to the end with no discount. Their codebase may not have been updated quite yet, but I would keep an eye out to see when the discount triggers. Some notable sets include LEGO Star Wars 10198 Tantive IV and LEGO Creator 10197 Fire Brigade, both of which are already seeing a price drop down to $139.99, a 7% discount, before the 25% kicks in. Good luck!

Thanks to yakkotank for the tip.
