10123 Cloud City
08.09.03 Tim

Well how about that - bet you weren't expecting that one, and if you were a lucky attendee at the LEGO Direct Q&A last night at BrickFest, then you were able to check this one out first hand.

We are once again privileged to bring you a first look at another exciting product from LEGO Direct. Starting next month, this will be available to order through both LEGO Shop@Home and LEGOShop.com; it will follow through to LEGO Outlets from there. No retail at this time.

Looks like the debate over skin tone for Lando can now thankfully be resolved; I for one am happy with the final decision and may be just as excited about a new LONG OVERDUE Leia. Very cool. Throw in a new Luke and check the new paint deco on Boba as well. Check it good, because there is another first there; printing on minifig arms. Boba now has the distinction of being the most decorated minifig in the history of the company. He even has print on his belt. Seven minifigs all together.

Think of this more like a playscene than a playset; what you have here are the memorable moments from the floating city; Luke's fateful battle with Vader, the shock from the dining hall and of course the carbon freezing chamber (where are the Ugnaughts?). There are a handful of interactive elements - windows fall away and Han can be dropped into the chamber.

So I can hear what you're thinking - you want a better image of the minifigs? Here, chew on this and oh what the heck, here's an image of the final box art as well.

Not a bad 'off year' huh? Your #1 Most Wanted Set in the AT-AT, and now your #1 MW Minifig as well.

Eager to have this one in hand? You should be able to preorder it on Monday . . .

EDIT: This set is now available for preorder. Click here to go to the Shop@Home page or dial 1.800.453.4652. Preorder price for U.S. and Canada is 99.99 with a release date of October 24.

RGS at Amazon
08.08.03 Denise

What a difference a few hours make ~ this morning it wasn't, now it is...forum member Maskatron notes that Amazon/TRU.com has put the Republic Gunship (7163) on sale for the low price of $49.97. Not a bad deal at all :) Note it ships separate (with separate charge) from other items you may order. The Gunship is rumored on sale at brick-and-mortar ToysRUs stores as well.

S@H special

LEGO Shop at Home (US) has five of the Star Wars pens at half price, $7.89 each: Darth Vader, R2, C3PO, Jango Fett, and Clone Trooper.

Greg @ BrickFest
08.06.03 Greg

This weekend I'll be in Arlington, Virginia for BrickFest 2003! I will have my original art from the fbtb comics, Star Wars Insider comics, and LEGO Magazine illustrations on display and for sale. Also, I'll be doing sketches and will have original prints that I had made specfically for the show for sale (or for trade of mini-figures!).

BrickFest is August 8-10 and at the George Mason University - Arlington Campus, 3401 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Virginia. While you needed to have pre-registered to attend the whole event, Sunday is open to the public with admission of only $5. For more information, check out www.brickfest.com.

Hope to see you there!

I'm pretty sure that everyone has seen the new sets at retail by now, but Kurt sends word of them in San Antonio, TX at a Super WalMart just in case - and Damien sends word from Atlanta as well . . . I've also received mail from FBTB fan Josefin, who says that LEGO Shop@Home is selling the 10018 Darth Maul Bust in several European countries for 75% off, so you may want to check that out!

Forum regular Duchessa writes:

"Hi!

I usually don't make much noise over discounts, but this one is amazing.

Lego S@H are selling the DMB with a 75% discount, at lest in Scandinavia, Germany and the Netherlands. I've passed on this set before, but when the cost went down to about $45 for a MISB... well, I've already ordered my copy =)
