I remember once thinking the original UCS AT-ST was one of my finest creations. Looking back on it now, it's a complete embarrassment. I can't believe I actually showed it to people!

At least I can put part of the blame on the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels. As Errbt (from the FBTB forum) pointed out, the AT-ST shown in there is horribly wrong, hence the need for a drastic revision of my custom, which had been based on it.

It's shorter, (the scale is spot-on when compared to the other UCS models) a bit beefier, and a whole lot more detailed than before.

This shot shows how the head is actually tilted back, rather than building it all out of slopes, or sloped plates. The illusion works MUCH better now than in the first version.

It still requires a stand, of course. I've removed the label so you can get a clearer view of the legs.

My favorite new detail is the rail around the hatch, made from technic flex cable.

That reminds me, there's a working hatch now.

It's still quite posable, thanks to the new ratcheting hip joints, but, alas, the head can't be turned any more, due to all the tubeys around the neck.
