Some "in progress" shots I happen to have taken during development.

A very early version. As you can see, almost everything changed pretty dramatically, except the lower front end. You'll see some dark red here, as I hadn't give up on it yet. There was just too much I wanted to do that would be awkward or impossible in dark red, so I made the decision to go with regular red all over. A pity. Dark red is my favorite new color.

A more advanced version with a prototype of the new ball turret. Since this, the 2nd cockpit moved further forward, and I rebuild the back end about a dozen times to get the right mix of shape, support for the wings, space for rocket-box details, etc.

The prior version which first "went public." It really does cry out for some detail, doesn't it?

A proto-ball turret. This was my first solution, but there were problems. First, it was too big. Second, the detailing was all wrong. Third, it tended to hang just a tiny bit open. Fourth, I have 2 of these pieces, and there was a total of ZERO of them on bricklink.

It's a shame, really. It took some serious wrangling to get them to fit together like that, and attach the interior. If I was more inclined to build MOC spaceships instead of replicas, I'd make something with this as a cockpit. See if you can figure out how it goes together! :)

This feature was scrapped from the final version since the back panel now supports all the weight above it. Plus the speederbike wasn't really the right size. 4.4 meters, my foot, Lucas!

A picture of said ambiguously scaled speederbike. Technically it's closer to UCS scale.
