The Gunboat is perhaps my favorite EU fighter, probably because I was introduced to it long before being put off EU by silly ships like the TIE Boat and Sun Crusher.

I really liked Warhawk's version and built this not because I thought I could do better, but simply because I wanted a gunboat of my own. I decided to go quite a bit smaller, because the official measurement makes it illogically large for a one-man fighter. I've shot down literally hundreds of these things, and trust me, they're NOT 15 m long.


I'd like to say I went with dark grey because I think that's closer to the real color scheme, but really it was what I had available.


Kept the dark red trim though.


In these pictures, it's standing on its retractable landing gear. They're raised and lowered by turning the radar on the back here.


Here's a close-up of said landing gear, and some extraneous detail. When fully down, the distance they extend is slightly longer than the height of the model itself! Now that I've got the system working, I may steal it for more permenant members of my collection, like the Y-wing or Shuttle.


Cockpit. I really thought these trans-black flags would be super-useful, but this is the first thing I've ever done with them.
