All Star Wars, Most of the Time

Postby Staff » Fri Apr 03, 2009 5:33 pm

While we had our little fun with April Fool's day, I think nigh's the time to revert back to what we all came here for. The Dunkin' Donuts- er, I mean, LEGO Star Wars (and other licensed themes). We had originally planned to leave it up for a little while longer, but it seems that the more passionate members of our community are getting a little upset and impatient to say the least. To be honest, we would have changed it back April 2, but once we got all the graphics and stylesheets in place, we were surprised at how slick the theme looked overall so we wanted to keep it around for another day or two. We hope you all can understand. Did we push it a little too far? Probably. But in the end it was a very valuable learning experience for us and the lesson learned is that a lot of people can't take a joke. The upside to it all is that It is very reassuring to see how passionate our community is for this site and the LEGO Star Wars theme. To those of you whom we've hurt, please forgive us; for we humbly apologize for toying with that which you care about. To those of you who "got it", thank you; it made it that much more enjoyable.

We had no intention of truly converting to a Power Miners focused site, but we do hope that with all the attention we gave it, that some of you who wrote off this theme before will now give it a chance. The site's theme may have been a joke, but our love for Power Miners is real. My personal favorite is the Thunder Driller. It was the bi-directional drill was what won me over; that, and it just looks friggin' cool. Boulder Blaster and Granite Grinder are also staff favorites warranting their own reviews for our joke day. We can't really recommend Crystal Sweeper for the terribad price per part ratio, but all the other sets in the theme are real winners in our book. And hey, if the great builds and vehicle designs don't win you over, surely the cute little Rock Monsters will! Pick up a set today; you will be pleasantly surprised.

Long live Power Miners!

P.S. The building contest is real. Deadline's been extended until April 17th 2009.

I think that I was a brilliant April Fool's joke :check: (and I'm not partial to them really).

In fact, it would be kind of cool to have that as its own site, the look and over all style was awesome! XD

I love how you went into so much depth that it really was hard to tell if you were joking or not. Thanks for giving me such a laugh!

Sorry that I got kind of crazy over this. Deep down, I was pretty sure it was an April Fool's joke. It's just, I'm kind of easy to partially fool. Like when Don was apparently banned. I believed it for a very long time. Sorry about going crazy, again.

I don't know why I dropped back here again lately. LEGO can no longer hold my interest, and I'm almost certainly gone forever. Bye to all who remember me.

I love jokes and pranks, and to me, it was obvious the entire time that it was an April Fool's Day prank. I think carrying it on for an extra few days was genius. And I like the Power Miners theme, and I like to see people freak out, so, I guess I just had fun with it. But, I do like having a place to chat Star Wars as well.

I thought it was by far the best April Fools I saw anywhere this year. You really, really sold the joke. And jokes are always better if they're not completely obvious. Congrats! :D

Now remove this Rest of April Fools Joke and get back to PMs! >:)

This April Fool's Joke showed me a theme I didn't know before. And I must say, I like it!
I bought the Crystal Sweeper (for 20% less) today, and am building it right now. Ok, the lime green is a color I have to get used to, especially in combination with orange, but else it's a nice vehicle and a very enjoying build.
And some interesting accessories like a laptop are included in this set. The Rock monsters are kinda cute.

You know, when I first saw the updated site early April 1, my first reaction was to be all negative-nelly fuddy-duddy about it (which says something about me which isn't that great). However, after looking around a bit, I realized that this was actually a well thought out, carefully orchestrated prank and not just some thrown together craziness. I've bore witness to several of FBTB's supposed "jokes", "pranks", and other shenanigans, and this was by far the best one yet. I'm still having difficulty believing that anyone actually thought anyone was being serious about the change. Onions is right: some people just have no sense of humor, which is really sad.

Personally, I want to thank the staff for not just pulling some lame "secret mod" prank again, but actually putting some decent time and effort (and thought) into it. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and hope the negative reactions won't dissuade you from doing so again (if it was me, I'd be doing it even more just to screw with people).

For the record, though, I still think a "From Butts to Boobies" Paradisa themed site would have rocked even harder, but I suppose there are the children to think of...

Pulling pranks is about stirring up the pot a little. I mentioned that it seemed like a lot of work to create the new look, and if I put that much work into it I would have kept it up longer too. The fact that some folks started getting a bit out of hand threatening to leave for ever was a little over tramatic in my opinion. I hope the fact that some people didn't have a sense of humor doesn't dicourage the staff from pulling a nother prank next year, since it is supposed to be about having fun in the first place. You guys did a great job on it.

The only question left is, what are you guys gonna do next year? Everyone will be expecting another theme change. It has to be bold and different. How about:

-From Beaks to Bills (for bird lovers)

-From Black to Blue (for people who adore the visible spectrum)

-From Bates to Buffalo Bill (for the serial killer in all of us)

-From Beavis to Butthead (see title)

-From Beer to Booze (for anyone 21 and up, except the driver ;) )
They're all wasted!

I love how you think we'd want to do this again after the backlash we got for this one. No, it'll probably be a couple years before we do this again.

Yeah, he says that, but really he's trying to lul us into a false sense of security, so we're still really suprised when FBTB turns pink and is filled with Rocko and Don's private collection fo My Little Pony.
