[POP CULTURE] The Ghostbusters Firehouse

UPDATED, LOOK AT PICS IN LATER POST

-----------------------------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER: The following MOC is bad. Or, more accurately, looks nothing at all like it should. When I made this during Shut-Up-and-Build-Week, my main focus was to just make a GB playset that looked something like the firehouse. And it does! If you squint...

Image

Yeah, as you can see, it's 1) Much too wide, 2) missing windows, and 3) Almost completely reversed. I will probably (read: definitely) remake it to be more movie accurate. Anyways, here's the interior:

Janine's desk
Obviously, this is again inaccurate to the movie. The containment unit should be in the basement, the little table where Egon tests the slime probably never happened in the firehouse, and is much too simple anyways. It does have the pole, anyways, and it does work, just not very well. Overall, though, it was a fun little project to build, and works well as a cute li'l playset, at least in my opinion. What's yours?

Good start, and I'd love to see this made movie accurate. You're gonna do the Ecto-1, I assume? :)

Well, after a couple months, I've gone through a couple versions before I came to this one.

Image

It's a little short, and not as long as I would have preferred, but unfortunately, this was all my bricks would allow me. One thing that does trump this one over the old one is the fact that it does have doors and they actually open! There's also an interior, that's a tad more movie acturate than the old one, though not by much. Instead of hinging it this time around, I made i modular so the top floor could come off the bottom. However, due to the aforementioned lack of bricks, I had to ditch the 4th wall for the top floor and just leave the empty space. Here's the top floor:

I also updated my six-stud Ecto-1 to fit in with the firehouse.

Yeah, I forgot to add in those grills in the front.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out. Sure, it's not as big as it should be, but it's a heck of a lot better than my old one. Gallery can be found at my Flickr and Brickshelf.

Comments, complaints, critisicm are always welcome! :D

That's the best Ecto in six wide that I've seen. Also, do you have any windows you could put in the gaps on the firehouse, otherwise it looks really good.

Definately cute, but it would look a lot better with more detail. I guess I'm a bit more of a perfectionist, but a full scale GB Firehouse complete with a minifig size Ecto 1 would be  awesome. Still love what you did.... continue bringing the 80's back to life. They were by far the best series of movies ever.

Next in line for full scale work would definately be such themes as:
The Transformers
G-Force - Battle of the Planets
X-Men (TLC would be very wise to produce the mini-figs for this, don't know about vehicles though, but the figs would be an absolute sell out.
Oh well... at least we got Batman and Spiderman..... i guess it would be too much to ask for a Marvel line....
imagine how cute a mini fig Hulk would look....

When I built my 8-stud Ecto-1 (Which is minifig-scale), I originally planned a firehouse to fit its scale. Unfortunately, I really don't have that many red and grey standard bricks, and as such, that idea was scrapped. When I started working on this, it was much taller, longer, and looked pretty good, but, guess what? Not enough bricks. I even had a hard time making this, so I had to scrap the fourth wall for the top floor. Ah, well, maybe after some Bricklink purchases this summer, that dream may come true.

Oh, and thank you very much, LEGO Engineer, but don't you mean this is the best? ;)
