MOC Madness Round 5: Jud Raynor vs Zoid

Postby Solo » Sat Dec 21, 2013 12:35 pm

This is now the polling thread for the ships shown above. This poll will be open for exactly 48 hours so get those votes in quick! You can still view the entries below. Contestants: this is a friendly reminder that no changes are allowed after the deadline, so your posts will be locked and if any of the photos in them change you will be disqualified.

This is the submission thread for the pilots listed above. Your letter this round is R.

The deadline for this round is 8pm Pacific time next Wednesday, December 25th.

Post your starfighter photos below. Include up to three photos and label them as follows: one you'd like to use as the polling image, one demonstrating the letter, and one showing your pilot in the cockpit. Standard photography restrictions apply.

Jud's R-Wing is a reconditioned military fighter, which he found at an auction for dirt cheap. It could barely start when he found it, but now purrs like a kitten. The military called it a Rotary-Integrated Tactical Assault vehicle. Jud just calls her RITA, for short. During her hey day Rita was used to drop in and provide cover fire for troops. She has three powerful dual laser cannons on each rotor, as well as two heavy guns above the cockpit. Now, Jud uses her when he thinks he might be in a situation where he needs to make a quick get a way, and have the fire power to back it up with.

The rotors move by an internal motor and battery pack. Watch the video on flickr as she takes off!

Good Luck Si-Mocs and the other builders, can't wait to see the ships.

Someone bought a few Brandburg Gates... that's a whole lotta cheese!

I like it though, especially the solution for building a mirrored R

The A.R.G.fighter dates back to early Corrausiant defense fleet. Designed as a high altitude/low orbit fighter - the R fighter's main opponent was terrestrial not interstellar in nature. Prior to development of energy projectiles, the R Fighter's offensive capabilities were limited to six VAS missles which had the notable distinction of being the only weapon being able to use in both environments at the time.
The R Fighter's fold-able wings also allow for smaller hangers and carrier ships to be built to carry a higher number of fighters per cubic meter.

Zoid tucked away in carrier mode:

Love the top ship but really surprised that it won because it doesn't look like an "R". The "R's" as wings are lovely but to me the challenge is building a ship in the shape of a letter not building part of a ship that has the letter. But that's why I got booted in the first round probably. XD
Yea, though I walk through the valley...
